I had stay at Glow Penang about 5 days and the reason because not just the friendly experience i had before but more than that. The reservation i made is fufill mostly and the room requested near to lift. My room had nice view facings to the pool if other hotel the same area the room are without window. The room i consider very spacious if compare to other same price hotel not just that its sometimes difficult for us to move. In this hotel coffee & tea making facilities is there complete with every day free refill with 2 complimentary mineral water whereas the same near hotel around will not give you a mineral water. The refrigerator for me to chill my drinks and safety box is there too. The bed is very comfortable if you compare with other same hotel the bed was very old and several will have a hole in the middle and we not discuss about dont stain on a bed sheets & pillowcases. The room and bed i personally give it 10 out of 10 for Glow Hotel. The same goes to the toilet very clean and equipped with the amenities. One of the reason i love staying in Glow was their breakfast. There were separate for counter for bread & muffin, coffee machine with good coffee bean self service, fresh juices, local food you can choose either for mee/beehoon soup or Nasi Lemak/Nasi Goreng, American breakfast, salad counter, porridge counter and eggs/ommlete counter. So you can compare with the hotel you had stayed before in Georgetown area. I fully recommend you try once and you will...
Read moreLikes: Spacious room even for standard single. Spacious lavatory with a separation of toilet and shower areas. Professional, nice and polite staffs. Adjacent to numerous Chinese resturant, hipster coffee joints, local non-Halal foodcourt, nasi kandar joints, local banks, and convenience stores. BUT, there is one Halal breakfast joint in the foodcourt beside this hotel where they sells banana leaf covered piping hot nasi lemak. Very delicious and cheap. Pictures attached. Functional heater and wifi. Fridge and coffee maker are available. Shelve for luggage storage is available. Watet filter dispenser is available. If you wanna drink from this water outlet, I would recommend to boil it first and make your hot drinks. Signage is easy to identify. There are 4 power plugs; 2 beside the bed each (one of the plug has 2 USB slots), one at the desk/coffee table, and one beneath the TV. The ones beside the bed is very convenient and charging friendly where a patron does have to move the body to reach the gadget, providing that your wire length is proportional to the distance.
Dislikes/Area to Improve: Shower floor can be cleaner. TV only airing local channels. No movie channels, not even a single one. Room is not sound proof. Some guests does not have any manner when they use the whole corridor for luggage pick-up...
Read moreThis hotel used to be named Glow hotel. It was run quite efficiently on my last 3 stays. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We elected to get breakfast at the hotel and the food was decent and the people providing the service were good. They have renamed the hotel the Travelodge with new management and the rooms have not been maintained. My shower stall had a clogged drain causing water to run onto the floor, the rooms are dirty, the safe in my room was broken and they couldn't fix it. The breakfasts that we prepaid for were a disaster. The breakfast hall is opens at 7AM and the first day we arrived at that time there was no food ready to eat. The food served was cold, the tables were missing chairs, and placed spartically with no order, and didn't have the standard items on them. It wasn't until 08:00 am that the staff had showed up and the food to be eaten was out. The food area and places to eat the food were not sanitary. Management doesn't seem to take a active role in resolving issues. I would say that if you have stayed here before when it was the Glow and you liked the hotel you won't like it now. I have been coming to Penang for 20 years and stayed at several downtown motels but this one I won't...
