Instea - Penang Macalister — Restaurant in George Town

Event took place on 29 Aug 2019, Thursday.

1. Opening hour indicated 11am from Sunday-Thursday, however, staffs were still having their meals at 11.05am. Operation started “officially” at 11.09am.
2. There were 4-5 (maybe) working staff at the counter but only one was manning the cash register and the rest were just “watching”. The tv menu was not switched on; this goes to show the efficiency where customer in waiting were left wasting time to decide their choice of drink only at the counter and holding up the line.
3. A few of the drinks were not available and it was not stated beforehand when I placed my order. Reason given: We’ve sold out yesterday, so item unavailable today. But you’ve only just started business for the day?!
4. Took 30 mins for a Summer Supreme Grapefruit Tea to be ready; when I enquired, the replied given was “the tea is not brewed yet, requires another few more minutes to be ready”. Why wasn’t this being prepared in advance before you’re officially open for business?
5. Tv menus are interchanging every few seconds, so how does a customer decide what to have? Theres 3 screens, so surely the menu has enough space to project a fix page of the menu on it.

Overall, theres definitely room for improvement on all these aspects, and give reasonable customer service or one just cant be bothered by accepting...

The Creme Brulee milk tea is very interesting and tasty although abit overwhelming towards the end, good for sharing though. The black milk tea has good fragrance with sweetness on point, boba is addictively chewy , much better than alot of bubble tea out there...comparable to The Alley, although I still prefer The Alley more due to the unique Royal9 Tea. However, the BEST thing I found here is the Original Eggdited! So far it is the best I have found in Malaysia, can beat those from Hong Kong too. It has crispy skin with fluffy soft and chewy filling, gives a fulfilling bite full of egg aroma which is not too dry with just right amount of sweetness. I used to only love gongcha, none other brands could beat them in terms of the taste but INSTEA did it!!!! milk tea quality is good, creamy, have that lovely tea scent, not too strong just right!! As for the boba, the texture is just right too!

My staple order is always their oreo milk tea with light cheese foam, BEST CHEESE FOAM in the milk tea industry!!! Not gimmick at all, goes very well with the milk tea if you ordered at 25% sugar lvl!!

The main reason why i prefer instea over gongcha now is because of their store ambience, i always feel relaxed there thanks to the airy interior together with their comfy chairs!!!

But i do hope they can clean the chairs at least once a month because sometimes i do saw moulds and stains on some chairs and it made...
