I stayed here with around 20 other church members for our graduation ceremony. The rooms and bathrooms are super clean, which is really important. The room with bunk beds is spacious where it is able to accommodate 8 persons. The bunk beds have curtains to protect our privacy and the bunk beds are made of woods instead of those tiny creaking bunk bed you found in other hostel style accommodations. There’s small kitchen with utensils provided, iron and iron board, drinking water machine, washing machine and toothbrush/ toothpaste once requested. The common area and the cafe are comfortable to host a small gathering party too. Last but not least, the service staffs, Daniel and Elvis are very helpful and attentive to our needs which makes our stay delightful. Overall, no complaints coming from anyone throughout the 3D2N stay!

I stayed here for 5 night. This hostel is so strategic, tourist attractions like Armenian street, Chulia street, Lebuh Carnavon, Little India, some places of historical traces of Sun Yat Sen, all of them are within walking distance. They also provide washing machine that we can use for free. The check in and check out process are very easy. I had issue with the AC in my room, but the staff was really responsive and helpful, they moved me to another room. So, problem was solved. The building is an old building that is common in George town, it has wooden floor, if you get a room on the 1st floor, sometimes you will hear footsteps or when people drop their stuff but that was not a problem for me. So, my conclusion, I had a pleasant experience staying in this hostel.

Our stay at Milan Backpacker Hotel was ok. All of the important things worked - AC, wifi, shower in shared bathroom. The staff were fine, not overly friendly. The location was perfect and really allowed us to enjoy our time in George Town. We booked using Agoda for a small double room. The condition of the room was run down (see pics of wall) and had quite an odd odor. The pillows were very hard . The shared bathroom near our room on the second floor could have been cleaner with dead bugs smeared all over the walls/ceiling. For the price, it did the job but we were looking forward to our next accommodation to feel more settled.

Important Info Before Arrival • Check-in may be remote, with in-person check-in typically available from 3–6 PM. • Access codes for the outer and inner doors may be provided—ask ahead if there’s any concern about being locked out. • This is a typical historical Georgetown building. The second-floor wooden floors shake with movement; gentle steps are appreciated. • The wooden staircase can be slippery. Do not wear socks.

Highlights • Warm, friendly staff who enjoy joking and creating a relaxed atmosphere when present • Mostly clean, recently renovated interior with thoughtful design • Comfortable sleep—although mosque chanting continues until around 10 PM, the nightclub appears shut down • Located on Georgetown’s most popular artsy street (@Kids on Bike), across from a park and near good food (Indian, Korean, and more) • Useful amenities: new cooking area, cozy seating, and limited clothes-hanging space • Bathrooms with bidet hoses and large soap/shampoo containers

Things to Be Aware Of

Building & Safety • Floors flex with movement; footsteps and doors may cause shaking • Bunk ladders are tall and require turning around on upper steps to descend • Smooth wooden stairs—avoid wearing socks

Bathrooms • One upstairs bathroom at the end of the hall; more facilities downstairs • Hose attachments make cleaning easy, though mold spots could use attention

Check-in & Communication • Often self-guided; some guests rely on others for entry guidance • Messages are answered, though response time may vary • Limited lockers—keep valuables with you

Noise & Comfort • Religious chanting may be heard several times a day, sometimes after 9 PM • Wi-Fi is available but may drop occasionally • Sleeping pods are spacious, but may not suit guests over 6 feet tall

Overall Experience The downstairs atmosphere is welcoming, with kind, good-humored staff. The building has the quirks of old Georgetown architecture but is clean, updated, and in a good area for food and green space. With a bit of awareness, it provides restful sleep and a relaxed,...

Great location, 10-minutewalk from the ferry. Staff was really helpful regarding my request for storage luggage after check-out and retrieving them after their business hours. Responsive by WhatsApp too.

Very clean and cozy, spacious room complete with big cabinet to put suitcase and my things, hooks installed on cabinet edges to hook bags and clothes, fans to stay cool, racks for clothes, rubbish bin at door. All my room mates are quiet and clean. Bunk bed has super clean sheets, blanket, mini fan, magnet-door shelf, electric socket with both the plug outlet and usb outlet. You can lock your belongings in drawers under the bed.

After the entrance cafe, guest is to take shoes off and the entire area is a quiet zone, which all guests respected. Back of the ground floor was shower rooms, bathroom, pantry, water dispenser, hairdryer, table All common areas are...
