During my time in Malaysia, one of the most significant places in my spiritual journey was Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Regular visits to this iconic mosque became an integral part of my life until I eventually returned to Sri Lanka. Reflecting on the experiences, I feel compelled to share a heartfelt review of this serene and deeply enriching place of worship. Located in the vibrant and historic Kampung Baru area, the mosque is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Kampung Baru itself is known for preserving Malay culture amidst the rapidly modernizing cityscape, and the mosque fits seamlessly into this dynamic. With its welcoming atmosphere and well-maintained facilities, the Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque stands out as a landmark of both spirituality and community. The mosque’s design is striking yet comforting. The architecture features traditional Islamic motifs combined with modern elements, creating a space that is both functional and visually inspiring. The large prayer hall is airy and bright, with stunning chandeliers and intricately designed walls that immediately draw the eye and uplift the soul. The exterior, framed by lush greenery, offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur’s streets. The atmosphere inside the mosque is serene and deeply spiritual. Whether it was during the tranquil moments of Fajr or the communal energy of Friday prayers, the mosque provided an environment where I could truly connect with my faith. The call to prayer, delivered beautifully by the muezzin, resonated with a deep sense of peace that lingered long after the prayers. One of the most remarkable aspects of the Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque is the sense of community it fosters. As a foreigner in Malaysia, I never once felt out of place. The congregation was always welcoming, and I found myself forming meaningful connections with fellow worshippers. The mosque’s management also deserves praise for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring the facilities were accessible to everyone. The mosque is not just a place for prayers; it is a hub for learning and social activities. Regular sermons (khutbah) and religious talks were highly informative and well-structured, helping deepen my understanding of Islam. The mosque also organized community initiatives, including charity drives and Iftar gatherings during Ramadan, which I had the privilege to experience. The location of Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque adds to its charm. Situated amidst the urban vibrancy of Kuala Lumpur, the mosque offers a peaceful retreat. After prayers, I often enjoyed strolling through the Kampung Baru neighborhood, sampling delicious local food and immersing myself in the rich cultural ambiance. Even after returning to Sri Lanka, the memories of Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque remain vivid in my heart. The spiritual peace I found there and the warmth of its community left a lasting impression. It is a place that I recommend wholeheartedly to anyone living in or visiting Kuala Lumpur, whether they are looking for a place to pray, learn, or simply experience the beauty of Islamic culture. Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque is more than just a place of worship; it is a sanctuary that embodies faith, culture, and community. My regular visits there were some of the most spiritually fulfilling moments of my time in Malaysia. If you are ever in Kuala Lumpur, this mosque is a must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility and a deeper connection to faith. I look forward to the day I can return and once again experience the peace and beauty of this remarkable mosque.

I went their for Friday prayers. The Masjid is air-conditioned and very well maintained. It is a beautiful grand Masjid, and the recitation of the Quran before and during the Salaah is also very beautiful and soothing

Mixed. Experience at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia 🇲🇾 Masjid Jamek is a peaceful and historically significant mosque in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Its architecture reflects the charm of an older era and offers a serene space for prayer amidst the city’s hustle and bustle. While the mosque is not very large, it holds spiritual value and provides a quiet place for reflection. That said, it appears that the Mosque hasn’t been maintained as well as it deserves, considering its importance. Coming from Pakistan 🇵🇰, where even our neighborhood mosques are often more beautifully constructed and well-kept, I felt Masjid Jamek could benefit from some care and renovation. Nonetheless, it remains a meaningful spot for Muslims and a glimpse into Malaysia’s Islamic heritage. I hope that in the near future, authorities will give this historical mosque the attention it deserves. With proper maintenance and restoration, Masjid Jamek can truly reflect the beauty and dignity of Islamic architecture. It has great potential to become not only a spiritual hub but also a well-preserved symbol of heritage for future generations.

Ramainya Hamba Allah. Every Ramadan, donors will take the opportunity to donate money for food for muslims to break fast. People of all nationalities congregate for the donated food. More often than not, those in the lower income groups, students or even family and single people come to eat during Ramadan. Eating is a community affair.

It has been a very, very long time since I've been here. Probably the last time was when i was in primary school. Got stuck in KL and thought, let's wing it to Kampung Baru. Somehow we got a parking quite easily and we walked the rest of the way to the mosque.

Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru is one of those iconic mosques in the country. It is popular during Ramadan with its bubur lambuk giveaway. Kampung Baru is one of those earlier malay settlements in Kuala Lumpur. Some of the stories trace it back to the 19th century where a few villages agreed to be administered under one roof.

The mosque sure is a far cry from when i last came. It is modern, air conditioned now. Tahfiz students seem to be having...
