Do not come here if you can't control your behaviour or your families.
Check in and check out procedure are super easy.
At the room rates they offered, this guesthouse is the best staying i ever had around Tanah Rata. Entire premise are so clean and cozy. I like how they prepared several outdoor sitting places, you get to embodied serenity of Cameron fresh air.
Coffee, tea, hot water are unlimited at ground floor pantry. Free WIFI too. Please check with them before staying and complaining no cooking could be done.
Some room gets private toilet, some uses shared ones. If you use shared one, please be clean and respect cleanliness.
Tucked quietly within Jalan Mentigi, 3minute walk from Cameron Fair mall, i would prefer this type of staying anytime over main street. It is just too busy and noisy out there beating the purpose of coming over Cameron Highland.
Parking lot could be limited, i do not recommend big group driving in convoy style. Instead, do car pooling.
If you know Cameron traffic load on typical weekend/long weekend, driving out anywhere is a nightmare. Hence, walking out for food, other attraction is just nice from this spot. Personally, i even walked to Brinchang from Tanah Rata so i could enjoy more of the climate.
The only upsetting matter during my stay are the absolute inconsiderate nuisances from other guests. The premise indoor is absolutely NO SMOKING entirely yet i find all of them manage to cause all the below issue: -Kid shouting loud before 7am and after 10pm -Smoking cigarette inside -Closing door loudly -Talking loud at night after 11pm There was even a kid shouting for parent/uncle from ground floor to 2nd floor after 12am that did not stop after i telling the kid to keep quiet. That was ridiculous.
I don't wish to be racist, but ALL the above were only cause from one specific race. Will not mention here.
Please learn to respect other guests, place is an amazing place to stay. The staff will not have people 24/7 around to teach you basic respect around the premise.
As i mentioned earlier, the best staying in Tanah...

However, this hotel is very directed towards budget and I will explain.
Rooms are very small, especially if you are two people, mattresses are hard and very uncomfortable, my lower back pain returned to me after the first night sleeping.
Cheap beds, mattresses, & even Sofas are cheap without good supportive cushion.
No noise insulation material & no acoustic glass and you can't open the windows because no mesh to protect you from mosquitoes.
Bed sheets, linens, towels are all dark coloured so you can't tell if they are stained or dirty.
Again bathroom floor tiles are dark timber look, so you can't tell if they are dirty or moldy, again money saving.
No shoes, so less work in staff and cost saving but they don't provide disposable slippers. So better have your own slippers to use as the floor is cold
No hot water in the sync, so if it's a cold night, which it does get cold sometimes, you only have to use the shower to get hot water.
All in all, if they provided good beds and mattresses, double the size of the current rooms, which is not possible without costly renovations, and reflect that with 20 to 30% price increase, as what's the point of maximising the number of rooms but the majority of them are empty even on a weekend, unlike The lakehouse hotel which was fully booked when I checked.
Yes which would prefer? you have many many rooms but most are empty or half the amount of rooms but...
Read moreLet me start by saying this guest house is very clean, both the rooms and the hall ways and kitchen. The rooms are comfy. The road is a bit noisy though. Everyday, new clean towels.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The kitchen is a bit limited in its supplies but there is free coffee, tea, water a fridge and a stove with a few pans. You can buy a Guiness from the fridge (at the reception) as well (for you, Irish, British, Scottish, & Dutchies).
But who cooks here? There is a great amount of nice restaurants around such as Rosa Indah (Malaysian/Indonesian) and Kougen (Japanese fusion).
Location is nice as well. 15 min walk from the bus terminal. 5 min to the restaurants. 5 min to the start of hiking route 10 (recommended).
The owner of the place is someone you should definitely meet. With great passion he will explain you everything about the surroundings and history of Cameron Highlands and also Penang George town and more!
Also Jay (owner of Gerards Backpackers roomstay) comes around sometimes and will explain you everything about the nature and wildlife in Cameron Highlands!
One last recommendation: Visit Cameron Highlands not just for the tea plantations, the strawberry farm or other tourist attractions, but go and explore the beautiful (and challenging) hiking trails! Its free and the best experience...
