We’ve stayed here from 8-11 Feb with 4 kids. Ours was an upgraded, a 1 bedroom suite. Thanks for the upgrade, we appreciated it! We were very satisfied with the room. It was spacious for our kids to play around. Cosy & comfortable enough. There were 2 toilets, one in the room & 1 outside. Fridge & tv was all working fine. Tv channel is quite a few, acceptable but wifi is very slow, just for the sake of complimentary usage for the guests. Anyway that was not a problem at all since we have our data available. Location wise is great, not in a crowded sight seeing places. It’s close enough to get to all the attraction places, more or less than 30mins.
Room can be more cleaner, noted there was unpleasant smell when we enter the room, although it was not a turned down reason for our stay. They should improve on that. Put air fresheners or essential oils to get rid of the unpleasant smell. Toilet can be cleaner too especially at the toilet seat. Hot water tap are functioning, the sink at the hall was a big reason why we enjoyed our stay here. Washing hands & eating activities are more easier, we dont have to use the sink in the toilet.
Safety wise, i really hope they can improve in the future by putting safety grills to all the windows & balcony. Most of us came here with families & kids, so safety needs has to be addressed well. We leave all the windows & balcony door shuts at all time, so we regret it since we came here for the weather yet we cannot enjoy it while we were in the room. Our room was at the 7th floor, anyway.
Breakfast selection is quite good. Tasty although it can be tastier & options were enough. Only problem is the eating area was small, it get all cramped up during peak time, so we would go early as soon as their breakfast time starts; 7am.
Main reason why we stay here was their playground!!! Our kids enjoyed staying here. This is almost uncounted times we’ve been here so we dont really spend time to go to all the attraction places. We stayed at the hotel & just go out if needed so the playground is so helpful for the kids entertainment. Hope that they can really maintain it.
Service was okay, although there were few comments that theirs were bad, mine was great. Reception staff, Ms Aisyah were helpful. She did her job well. Bravo! Only when i wanted to change our hair dryer that was not functioning was a hassle. Nobody pick up my call at the reception counter so i had to come down with the hair dryer to the counter asking for a change.
There is a mall below this hotel but it has nothing. Mall that served the Cameron’s guests is only Centrum mall; the one that is nearest. Parking is free, but limited. We dont have problem with it. Lift is only 2 & it gets busy during peak so expected that waiting for few rounds are normal before we can use it.
We are pleased that our stay is a good one despites all the negative comments shared here, and yes, we would definitely come back to stay here if we come to Cameron again....
Read moreTerrible hygiene! Went into the room and immediately smelled the moldy earthy smell. All the tables, chairs, sofas, countertops were covered with dust. The mirrors both at the living room as well as the toilet were covered with dust and water stains. Toilet door was also full of stains.
What's worse?? The comforter and pillows were filthy! They had stains of makeup foundation, chilli sauce, oil, black spots, grey stains, dust bunnies etc. The curtains look elegant from the inside but step out into the balcony and look at the outside of the curtain, you will be horrified to see tons of splatters of reddish copper stains (I hope they are not blood). There is also a spider web with a red spider living in the corner of the reading table. The mold is visible on the pillows and stinks.
About the quality of sleep... The pillow and bed are of the right firmness (the only reason this place is worth the one star I'm giving). Sleep was good until you get rudely awaken by the morning prayers being blasted loudly near the hotel. The windows are meant to be left opened as the room has no air con so it takes in natural cool air from the outside. There's also some construction noise going on and roosters crow early in the morning. I sure felt like I was living in the farmers' cottage. Children in the hallway will be noisy with their running feet and shouts as the hotel is not carpeted so all noises bounce off walls.
About the hygiene, I've informed the front desk about the stains and general filth all over the room. The response was "OK, you want a change of comforter. What else?" I said I need clean pillows and towels and a wipe down of the place. Their response was, "OK, change towels and pillowcases. What else? Anything else?" Overall it felt like they get these complaints often and is annoyed at me for pointing the filth out. The bellboys were a bit more courteous as most of them will greet me with a nod when we crossed paths at the lifts.
The hotel is above a mall which is partially empty. Very abandoned and although there are a few eateries at the a ground floor, there's nothing around here or in here that's worth the RM 310 I paid...

Title: Severely Overrated – A Poor Experience at a Supposed 4-Star Hotel
I stayed at Avillion Hotel Cameron Highlands for one night and was completely let down by the experience. Despite its 4-star rating, the hotel fails on multiple basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, and service. Here's a breakdown:
Room Smell & Humidity: The room had a strong, musty odor likely due to poor ventilation and excess moisture. No ozone treatment or air freshening was done before check-in.
Dirty Public Toilets: Toilets near the cafe and lobby reeked of urine — clearly no proper cleaning schedule is in place.
Cafe Odor: Even walking past the cafe was unpleasant due to a lingering bad smell.
Poor Breakfast Quality: Both Western and Asian options were below average. Low-grade sausages and ham, unfresh nasi lemak sambal, soggy peanuts with old oil smell, hard nasi himpit without peanut sauce, watery hard-boiled eggs, stale watermelon (only fruit served), and cold mee goreng. Very few food choices overall.
No Security Presence: No security guards from the car park to the lobby at any time during check-in or check-out. Felt unsafe.
Terrible Car Park Conditions: Wet, dirty, poorly maintained car park with uneven surfaces and a strong musty odor. Look like in 3rd world country!
Smoking Area Abuse: Many guests smoked in the poorly ventilated car park. No action taken from hotel staff & building management!!!
Outdated Room: Furniture and TV size is small with limited entertainment options (no Netflix/YouTube). Decor feels stuck in the past (in the 80s )
Slow Wi-Fi: Internet was slow.
Missing Amenities: No bathroom floor mat provided. Hot water temperature 🌡️ was irregular!
Noisy Environment: Disturbed by bird noises, traffic, and music from a nearby bistro during the night.
Poor Location Signage: No hotel signboards along major roads from Tapah or Brinchang, making it hard to find.
🔴 Summary: This hotel is not deserving of its 4-star rating. It's outdated, poorly maintained, with serious hygiene and service lapses. I strongly do not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting...
