New as of August 2023, this is a very comfortable IHG-member hotel located 15-20 minutes from the airport. Nicer than a transit hotel without the need to travel another 40+ minutes into KL.
Although Holiday Inn made it's bones as a solid middle-class rather than luxury hotel, this place makes you feel like you're staying in a more expensive spot. Upgraded shampoo/body wash, towels and toiletries. Porters to help you with your luggage if you need it.
Rooms are extremely comfortable. Beds are pleasant to Western tastes (probably a bit soft for some Eastern tastes), and firm and soft pillows are provided. Television has an extensive list of stations both international and local. King-bed room includes a small refrigerator, safe, ample room for hanging clothes and a desk area with outlets suitable for work purposes. Wi-fi is strong and more than adequate for video streaming. AC controls are intuitive but it can take a few minutes to cool the room down.
Bathroom is spacious and well-equipped. Mirror lighting, anti-fog mirror, large shower with good water pressure and lots of very hot water. Towels are thick and large. Basic toiletries on request and toothbrush/toothpaste disposables are already in the room.
Hot water pot with a selection of nice teas and coffee. Two complimentary personal-size water bottles (don't drink the tap water unless you're boiling it first). Plenty of lighting in the room.
There's a complimentary hotel shuttle to KLIA 1 & 2 that leaves hourly. You can register for the shuttle when you check-in. There is also a shuttle to the Mitsui Outlet Mall nearby that has a variety of Western stores (Levis, etc.) as well as more local brands.
There's an on-site restaurant and bar but they close at midnight. This is the only bar in the area if that makes any difference to you. Typical to SE Asia their selection of liquor is very weak in the tequila arena (only Jose Cuervo) but otherwise adequate. They have a buffet breakfast available with a good selection of breads, eggs in various forms, cold cereal, rice, noodles, meats and sauces.
If you have status with IHG Rewards you may be invited to the Executive Lounge on the 18th floor. Complimentary happy hour in the evenings, which provides an unparalleled opportunity to enjoy the sunset. Finger foods, fresh fruit and other small snacks provided. Sodas, beer, white/red wine, limited spirits and mixers available. You need to have your key card to access the lounge (assuming they've programmed access onto your key card).
Staff is extremely courteous. There are ample small restaurants around the hotel including fast food options and many local cuisine options. On my most recent stay they had a night food market just outside the hotel (easy walking distance) if you want to go more authentic. Otherwise there isn't much in the area of note. Stay at this hotel because of comfort and convenience, not because of...
Read moreI’m hereby writing in to sincerely compliment a staff by the name of Fitri, after what I’ve encountered and experience to the accommodation I’ve booked.
On the 15th June, I’ve booked a stay at Bukit Bintang one of the apartment and upon arrival which I did inform the host our arrival estimated time, I didn’t manage to check in and settle down. The host was un-contactable and end up we were all upset as we had a long drive from Singapore and feeling very exhausted and we do not have a place to rest. I given no choice but decided to drive around to look for another place to stay, as I have young children with me. I felt so bad that I have to let the kids sleep in the car for awhile till we manage to get a place. Mostly all hotels nearby are fully book on that day, and some even allow me to only check in at 3pm and no early check in even though we are willing to pay for the early check in. My husband did not give up as this time round we travel with kids for their holiday, and to celebrate my son birthday at the same time and not to make them get upset, he end up found Holiday Inn Sepang contact in one of the apps and called to the front desk, and the staff by the name of Fitri rendered his offer to assist us and mention there’s room available and advise us to come by. We reached Holiday Inn 6am in the morning. Even though the location took us about an hour, upon arrival in Holiday Inn, Fitri welcome us with a sincere smile and immediately assist us. He listen very carefully to us for what we have experienced, and he immediately without much consideration offer us early check in and at a very affordable rate. Importantly, my children have a proper place to sleep and rest. After all the processes on the check in, Fitri even recommend us places to visit the next day to bring the kids. Honestly, after what we have encountered, the feeling of disappointment, and upset Fitri manage to gain back our mood and make us feels safe and warm. From the bottom of my heart, myself and family will like to say our sincere gratitude towards Fitri and to say very BIG THANK YOU for his professionalism, patience and warm service. No forgetting the the rest of the employees who greeted us early during our stay till the 17th in the lobby. With this, I hope the management will take my compliment and extend my appreciation to Fitri as well and valued his service through. I wish Fitri may grow in the company and set great example to rest of the employees. We will definitely return and visit Holiday Inn Sepang again the soonest when we have the chance even though location are way further from the city. We had a good stay. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall I love the place and end of the day my family have a pleasant stay. Once again Thank You. I truly appreciate.
Best Regards,
Norhazean and...
Read moreAt checkin I was told that there would be a fire alarm test the next day. What time? I asked. All day was the reply. So for the whole of the next day I couldn't know if there was a fire or it was just a test. ||I was also told that there would be renovations the next day, no advance warning of this on the website or the IHG app that this was ongoing. I'd arrived late so there was no option but to check in and hope for the best. I got to bed about 1am. ||At 7am I was woken by the room phone rang to tell me that there was going to be a fire alarm that day. I had been told about this, no need to wake me up to tell me that my sleep was disturbed. ||Then the drilling started in what sounded like the room next door. There was vibrations in the room, it was unreal. Exhausted and frustrated I got back in bed and did drift back off to sleep for a short time. ||Then I was woken by music playing. Odd... I checked my phone, no music... Where was it coming from? There's a speaker in the room. The hotel can just pip music directly into your room, which is what they were doing? Deliberate or a mistake? ||I got back into bed and then the speaker starting making announcements about the upcoming fire alarm test. I knew about the test, from reception and a phone call. I called reception and they found my frustraiotn funnny. They actually laughed at me. Totally dismissed out of hand. No apology, no concern, no interest in helping get a final hours sleep. ||I make videos so I recorded everything. The drilling. The music out of the speaker. The announcements and the phone calls, so please don't deny this. ||It's not the fire alarm test that's the issue, it's the incompetence in the way it was handled. It's the renovation work that was the issue, it was that I wasn't advised in advance. ||I can honstly say in all my years travelling for work and for leisure, this is the worst hotel experience I have ever recieved. Not the worst hotel I've stayed at, but the worst...
