Gold Star Hotel Kemaman — Hotel in Terengganu

It was a horrible experience. The hotel rooms and the corridors were full of bad odours and not very clean. The overall quality of the rooms (and the building as a whole) was not worth the money guests are being charged. We rented two rooms, #201 and #205. Toilets of both the rooms were problematic. In the first one, the toilet flush was overflowing, so the water supply was manually turned off. It took us a while to figure out why the flush was not working. Everytime we had to flush the toilet, we had to turn on the water supply to fill in the tank and then turn it off again so that it would not overflow. In the second one, the toilet sink was leaking (used) water making us wet. In addition, the water pipe connecting the flush tank and the commode was also leaking, so the toilet floor was wet all the time. One of the beds in this room was also almost broken. The regulator of the fan was not working. The room had no window. The bedsheets had marks on them.

Furthermore, it was nearly impossible to sleep due to the following reasons:

Someone was watching television at a very high volume. It was impossible to get sleep in that noise. At one stage, I had to leave the bed to report to the reception desk downstairs. To my surprise, I discovered that it was the receptionist herself playing the video/tv with such high volume after 1am at night! However, she lowered the volume on my request.

One kid from the next room (#204) was making huge noises. It could even be heard from everywhere. However, the hotel management didn’t take any action. At around 1:30am, I had to knock on the door and request the parents of the kid to ensure he does not make loud noises while playing.

Once the above two problems were solved and we were finally ready to get some sleep, we discovered that the noise of people flushing the toilets was very loud too, waking us up every...

YOU SHOULD READ THIS BEFORE CHECK IN! (worst hotel) This was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The room was filthy, with stained sheets, a foul odor, and visible mold in the bathroom. The staff was unhelpful and downright rude when I raised concerns, and the advertised amenities were either broken or nonexistent. The air conditioning didn’t work, the Wi-Fi was spotty at best, and there was constant noise throughout the night, making it impossible to sleep. Pros: Cheap budget hotel. Only about RM50 during my stay. Near beautiful river scenary. Near Haipeng Kopitiam. Spaces room.

Cons: The toilet floor is constantly flooded. Water not flowing to drain hole. Big no-no. Could not remember room no but it is at ground floor, end of corridor. Aircond not functioning well.
