Leong Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Terengganu

Stayed at Cherating and went to Kemamam for dinner. This restaurant is only 20mins away. Husband and I ordered fried jury teow for 1 person, salted egg calamari, salted fried prawns (went well with beer), and a spicy fried clam dish (don't remember the exact).

The good ones - kuey teow has very good "wok hei" and not oily. The prawns were great - fresh, big, and juicy flesh. The bad ones - salted egg calamari was wet and not crispy, apart from tasted salted egg, the sotong has no taste at all. The clam dish, I ordered 甘香 but it came out wet curry fried, overpowering the seafood so apart from spicy, I tasted nothing else 😅

The waiting hours are ridiculously long, 1hr plus. Because the kitchen cooked order by order. So when it's our turn, all dishes will come up to the table all at once. I feel this has more bad than good, because the appetite and mood diminishes when time getting longer. Well...

I rank this place as the top restaurant for me in Chukai. Apart from the 30mins wait for the food, I can't find anything wrong with this place. 2 of us called for a medium sized steam grouper, steamed prawns (6 pieces big size), fried oysters egg (generous with oysters), fried vegetable + drinks. Bill was RM145 which was reasonable. How I wish this place open for lunch too but they only operate from 6pm until 1am. We were there on a Thursday and I guess if you go there on a weekend or public holiday, you may have to wait a bit longer. Came on 12 Nov 2020 for dinner, no menu available, local chinese man that took our order was rude, we asked for signature dishes instead he told us the entire dishes they have, spoke fast as if we could easily pick up the dishes names. However I give some point for being attentive. Rating for service 3/10.

Foods served normal nothing impressive, had sweet sour pork, sizzling tofu, mermite ribs, vege and lemon chicken for 3pax. Rating for foods 6/10.

Prices wise are slightly expensive 5/10. Ambience and cleanliness 6/10. Beware of mosquitoes for outdoor seating.
