The Cloud Restaurant — Restaurant in Malé

Visited for dinner and the food was very enjoyable - actually much better than what we expected from first glance at the menu. We had the halloumi bruschetta and grilled vegetables to start, and both were delicious. Would recommend those appetizers. For mains, we had the tuna steak (nicely seasoned but overcooked unfortunately which made it a little dry) and tuna curry (flavor was nice but really needed a bowl of rice to bring out the flavor fully, and we were very surprised that the curry was served on its own without any bread or rice to accompany it as is usual in other eateries). I was in Malé for 4 days and overall would say The Cloud is probably one of the better choices in Malé for a very pleasant evening at a rooftop restaurant - offering a nice view of the Sinamale bridge and airport, with decent service.

I do have to provide feedback that our evening at The Cloud was nearly ruined before it even started - because of the receptionist at the Samman Grand Hotel. I understand through our interaction that the receptionist is not well trained, and perhaps new on the job and trying to be helpful, but his mannerism and attitude came across as the complete opposite - rude, unprofessional and non-service minded. There should be better coordination between The Cloud restaurant and the reception desk of the hotel on dinner reservations and restaurant timings. We made a reservation with the restaurant for 19.30 and when we arrived at 19.30 promptly, were told by the hotel reception that the restaurant only opens at 20.00. Place looked very nice and modern but what a misleading attribute. Service was horrible. after we got served the food no one came to check up on us or see if we need anything once until we have to call out loud for someone to come attend to us. But the highlight of the how much of an absolute utter disappointment this place is the food. A. Ribeye steak the only option of steak on the menu $33 was absolutely horrendous. It was very chewy and hard. I asked for medium rare but it was very overcooked. The mixed fried rice was also horrendous. They gave under cooked unseasoned and unflavorful chicken sausages for the meat and the rice was also not boiled enough and was very hard. There were more food which was very disappointing. There is no point to a good looking restaurant if the quality of their service and food, which is the main product is absolutely horrendous. Would not recommend this...

Clean, neat and great service and attitude. The guys went out of their way to please us (turn some of the air conditioning off).

The food was very tasty and the portions were big. Pricing was also excellent.

The views are quite nice, overlooking part of the harbour/beach from high up (10th floor) and set a nice mood at night against the LED lights in the background.

One thing that made a (surprising) impression on me was the coffee! I didn't expect much from 'restaurant coffee' but boy was I proved wrong. If you are a coffee buff I would certainly recommend coming here at least for a cup and dessert.

Keep in mind you most likely have to make a reservation; so don't rock up expecting...
