Summer Beach Maldives — Hotel in Malé

Horrible experience. I have never seen a hotel so callous and disregarding of their customers time. I stayed one night in Male at this hotel just to be able to catch the earlier seaplane out to my resort on the next morning.

After confirming multiple times that I have to leave for the airport by 8:30 AM, the reception just made us sit while they kept waiting another 30 minutes for more passengers so they could cram their 6 seater car as much as possible. I do not know how much fuel they intended to save on a less than 5 kilometer journey.

In the end I missed my 9:30 seaplane and now have to wait for another 4 hours at the terminal for the next one. And I am facing this harassment so Summer Beach Resort can save a few pennies on fuel by herding together as many passengers possible in one airport shuttle with absolute disregard for their customers time. In fact if we did not shout at them in the end, they would have probably taken even longer as they were trying to cram two more passengers into the already full shuttle.

The cherry on top of the cake is the extremely unprofessional and misinformed staff. While the receptionist assured me that a 30 minute delay is nothing as it apparently takes just 10 minutes to board the seaplane from the international airport (a lie), the driver went a step ahead and claimed that TransMaldivian Airways waits up to an hour for customers so a delay is nothing to worry about.

Absolute rubbish. Would never recommend. Stay in Samann Grand instead. They may not offer the best view but at least are respectful...

It was a long trek from Canada with connecting flights to Maldives, so we booked 2 nights' stay at Summer Beach in Male, one before our seaplane flight to our resort at the northern most tip of Maldives and another one on the way back.||Summer Beach is just across the bridge from the airport and provides free airport pick up and drop off which is very convenient.||We were met by a very friendly hotel rep once we arrived at the airport. We were told every ten minutes our car was coming while we waited at the hot and stuffy airport watching everybody else leave. It ended up to be an hour's wait even though it was just a 3 minute drive from the hotel. Had we been told it would be such a long wait, we would have grabbed one of the many taxis there and paid for a quick transit to the hotel.||The drop off the next morning was punctual since they knew we had a seaplane to catch. On our way back both the pick up and drop off were fast and punctual.||The hotel is fairly new, nice and clean. Our room had a great view of the beach and bridge. The room was small but good enough for our layover. Service was top notch with very friendly staff.||The rooftop restaurant has a great view, great food and wonderful service. We didn't venture out and ate all meals at the beautiful restaurant.||Overall this is a great layover...

I booked one night at Summer Beach Hotel in Male before joining a week long liveaboard dive boat. I normally only book the return if I have a pleasant experience on the first night. Within minutes of arrival I knew I’d book the out going stay here too. |Besides the location being directly opposite the tidal pool, which is wonderful for a quick swim, the staff are what makes this establishment great. |We were told we could check out an hour later than the normal check out time. Our flight was at midnight, after checking out, we locked our bags in storage at the hotel and spent the afternoon walking around Male. Around 5pm we headed back to the hotel to pack a few gifts into our luggage before going back out for supper. It was then that we were offered the use of an empty room free of charge to shower and wait for our taxi pickup to the airport. |I’ve travelled on all seven continents and have never been treated this way in a hotel...big or small. The staff went out of their way to make our stay great, and I hope the hotel management are aware of the gems they have operating this establishment. |Besides the above, the rooms were a nice size (we had the balcony room), clean, and the breakfast was ample.
