We are just home after a wonderful 5 night stay at this lovely hotel. The staff could not have been more kind or helpful, genuine and warm. Our room was cleaned daily and towels changed as we required. It was well worth paying a little bit extra for a balcony with sea view as it was amazing. I can only imagine what it would be like in the Summer. The weather was quite Stormy at night and we could hear the waves crashing below us which was great! The room was adequate for our needs, tea & coffee, plenty of wardrobe space, lots of hangers and a free safe. The Zafiro restaurant where you have breakfast is lovely, looking out onto the water. A la carte if only a few guests and buffet if more guests, but ether way, you can have more or less anything, omelette etc, even though not printed on menu. The chef is most obliging. We also dined in the restaurant one evening and the grilled seabream was amazing! Guests receive 10% discount! We had to leave for our ferry at 3.30am and our pre ordered packed breakfast was ready at the desk waiting for us with the lovely night porter, thank you. Plenty of parking around the hotel, it was quiet, maybe Summer would be different. 2 supermarkets and lots of splendid restaurants in Xlendi to choose from.A great base from which to explore the whole island by hired car. We will definitely be...
Read moreSet on Xlendi promenade, with views and gentle sounds of the Mediterranean Sea is this lovely hotel. We chose a room with sea view and sat on the balcony to read each evening and to watch the sun go down before dinner. The Zafiro restaurant is outstanding and we think it is very good value considering the amazing quality…what a great chef they have here! |All of the staff were friendly and helpful and we couldn’t have had a nicer stay. Rooms are clean and practical and have TV, tea and coffee making facilities, en suite and hair dryer. I suggest you bring shampoo and a bar of soap unless you like liquid soap dispensers but I’m ‘old school’ and like my own products. Close by is a small but well stocked convenience store, fish bar, and a collection of small but pleasant bars and cafés. A cocktail bar is a short walk up the hill and is worth a pre dinner drink…but don’t forget to return here for an excellent meal. |There’s a local bus nearby (2€) and the island tour buses stop here too just 50 yards away. Taxis are available and good value eg getting to the capital cost us 8€ (We used Bolt app for this).|Gozo is a beautiful, gentle paced island and is well worth a visit.|We were staying in Malta and came to this hotel for 5 nights, travelling from Valletta by fast ferry....
Read moreWe only stayed one night so as to avoid the hours long queue for the ferry on Sunday late afternoon. I asked for a seaview room as the Xlendi Bay is quite spectacular. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable with firm pillows. Tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was spacious also. We had good free WiFi in our room and all through the hotel. Breakfast included and it was excellent. Traditional English breakfast was first class with excellent service by Jovan Borovic. Jovan served us when we had dinner Sunday night also, I asked if he was the Headwaiter because he certainly deserved the position. Very friendly at Reception and efficient. We were in Gozo in order to buy a puppy. After collecting the puppy we took her back to the hotel to show the lady receptionist as she was very welcoming to us, before we departed to Malta Monday morning. For future reference San Andrea Hotel is pet friendly with a minimal charge. Would we go back....most definitely even if just for the friendliness...
