This facility should be rated as a hotel star 2 and not a 3. Rooms are dated, run down, very small room couldn't even get into the closet properly as doors jam into the bed, cleanliness could be better, water leaked onto the balcony floor every day, whole building did not have hot water for 3 nights when we were there even after the hot water pipe repair, we were ignored at their cafe and constantly had to wave the servers down to get service and the food mediocre. They will only clean what is needed in your room. They do not replenish soap, bottled water, for eg. Couldn't find receptionist half the time. Likely not enough staff hired in all divisions for the hotel. Close to airport but expect 20-30 min to get to the Hotel Zone and then another 20-30 min to the Downtown city center by the local bus. (Hang on and brace yourself cos these buses go like the wind and stop abruptly). Great there is a kitchenette. There is a small store on the complex and an Oxxo 1 block away but both very limited so don't expect any fresh fruit or veg. Other than that the ocean view, beach, and pool very nice which makes up for some of the deficits described above. However, overall I would not book this...
Read moreWe stayed at Cancun Plaza just over the holidays and found the hotel, ok. Staff where very friendly. Roberto who works at the place where you book your tours was very helpful and the staff and secruity at the plaza as well. The service provided is depending on who you are renting the room from for example storing your luggage while waiting for the flight will cost you, might be refreshments at the little store or $30 US. The restaurant at the plaza is pretty over priced but that goes for everywhere these days. Please be careful of the OXXO across the street, they tried to charge us 450 pesos for 2 coffees and 3 packs of Ramen. After my husband noticed this she then scanned the items in and all the sudden we owed 200 pesos instead. From this lady (bright pink lipstick) her price for coffee was 33 pesos and from the other lady 28 pesos. Watch when they return your change as well. It was only one lady that did this to us (bright pink lipstick), the rest of the staff were friendly and polite. Good location and great access to the beach. We won't be staying...
Read moreTLDR: generally decently clean and with a great view, but AC was lacking and hot water was broken.
I booked via the "Cancun apartments" part of the facility (no idea if it differs) and paid the extra $20usd for a "deluxe" (about $150usd a night). Room is honestly pretty nice, clean and better maintained compared to other places of a similar (value-ish) hotels in the area-- except that the AC unit didn't respond to the remote/anything I tried and there was no hot water.
Hard to recommend given no hot water. Get the ocean view if you do stay here. But keep your window closed or be woken up at 7am by construction vehicles.
The food at the restaurant is also decent (if you add some extra spice/sauce)... But they also might ignore you... I walked away after 10 minutes of not being acknowledged even after the waiter saw me waiting 🤷🤷🤷. The more I think about it, maybe I...
