My family and I have come to Cancun for over 40 years, and Cancun has always been known to us for being one of the friendliest and most hospitable places on earth, with some of the greatest service. This place, unfortunately, is a major exception. The food was okay, although very very expensive for what you receive. We have no issue at all with paying a high price for good food, especially when on vacation, but at this place the value just is not there at all. Our issue was primarily with the service. We have never had such a terrible experience with service in any restaurant as the experience we had here. It’s made even worse by the fact that they bill the tip in automatically, creating an environment where the staff does not care whatsoever about the service they are providing. Upon our complaints in front of management, we were greeted with a silent grin as if to say “we really don’t care” before they turned their head down and walked away. ILLEGAL Tip Scam & Worst Food in Cancun

The food was awful — dry, flavorless, and inedible. We came starving after the sea activities for a romantic anniversary dinner but left hungry and went to another restaurant. That’s how bad it was.

Then came the real scam: When we finally asked for the check (after waiting over 15 minutes and asking multiple times), the waiter ILLEGALLY forced a 15% tip onto the bill without our consent. This is ILLEGAL in Mexico. It’s not a mistake, it’s a scam — preying on tourists who don’t know the law. When I pointed it out, he straight up lied to my face saying it was “mandatory” here.

Gabriel, a sub-manager, also lied to us and said we had “no rights” to choose our tip. Only when I made it very clear that I live in Mexico City and KNOW the law did he suddenly backtrack, and suddenly cancel the illegal charge.

This wasn’t just bad service — it was illegal, dishonest, and predatory. They tried to steal money from us, and if we didn’t know better, they would have gotten away with it. This ruined what should have been a special anniversary night.

This restaurant operates a business that takes advantage of tourists. I am aware of their prices, and yet, they charged us $88 US dollars per person for their mediocre food. When I asked for a menu, they of course, denied the existence of such. It’s a shame but restaurants like this will leave Cancun without tourists. Just stay away from it. You will be glad you did. Update: I have a friend who ate there for about $30 a week before we did and got the same thing. So how come we got charged $88 per person? I emailed the manager and got not response. That means I just got taken advantage of. The manager that day was fully aware of what was happening. He was standing next to the servers. I was very clear when I said I thought it was too expensive. I asked to see the prices on the menu. And they were very clear when they said the $88 American dollars per adult was the “only option.” The servers walked around with sausage for as long as they could.
