Wow what a disaster. My wife and I booked two and a half weeks March 2022 in Cancun at Amara Beachfront Casa De Dora B905. We had numerous problems with the condo (missing kitchen items, had to make coffee on stove, no TV service, light oven with match, minimal towels/linen, 1 elevator per building occasionally not working, cold/scalding showers, bar & restaurant palapas both closed, noisy area, etc) ||||We initially tried to treat these as just minor annoyances and work with staff to fix the most problematic issues, but the deal breaker came when a major renovation started a few days after arrival in a condo directly below us. The noise was loud and constant (hammers, drills, saws) making it virtually impossible to be in the unit during the day. When we learned that this renovation would continue through the entire duration of our stay, we decided to cut our losses and leave a week early and find another property. (not easy to do short notice during Spring break in Cancun!)||||We ultimately found another condo and did receive a partial refund which offset some of the costs of relocating, but it was a disruptive and frustrating process. ||||About a week after we left we posted what we felt was an honest/fair review of our experience on the Vacasa site where we made the original reservation. Today I checked Vacasa to see if my review was live and was shocked to see that a review with my name was there, but I didn't write it!. ||Someone had placed a forged review giving the property a five star rating. Here is a copy of the review on vacasa: (Brian E. Mar 2022 - 5* We had a very nice vacation. The facilities, the space in the whole apartment and the balcony are worth it. Highly recommended.) You can see my actual review below to see how different it is from this forgery.||||I didn't want to believe that Vacasa/Vrbo might have a way to filter or not post critical reviews, but was a bit suspicious since all the prior 'reviews' gave the condo glowing reviews despite some obvious issues. I was not prepared to see a completely falsified review in my name.||||I contacted Vacasa and advised them of this issue, and have lost confidence in the validity of the "guest reviews" as it appears they can be manipulated or falsified at least in our case. We have been customers of vrbo/vacasa for many years and this is the only time we had to leave a property early or had these kinds of problems with a property. Perhaps it is an isolated incident specific to this property/unit/manager, but the falsified review is troubling if not fraudulent, and adds insult to injury. ||||We hope posting this on Tripadvisor will help other travelers in making a more informed decision about this property and it's issues.||||(If you are interested in specific details, I have included the review that we actually uploaded to vacasa that was replaced with the forged review noted above)||||||"Not what we were expecting…||||THE GOOD||- The condo itself is nice and has a lovely panoramic view overlooking the grounds, pool and ocean. ||- The pool is huge and located right beside a nice beach, staff are friendly and professional. ||- There is an awesome seafood restaurant (Puerto Santo) a short walk down the beach. ||- The grounds are very nice and well maintained but we were a bit surprised to learn that both the swim up bar and food palapa’s were closed (maybe our misunderstanding from previous review comments)||||THE BAD||- Each tower only has one small elevator resulting in frequent waits plus the elevator was out of service several times.||- No welcome guide or user manual. This would have been very helpful in understanding how to use some condo items (see below) or info on restaurants in the area, etc.||- Living Room - No end tables or lamps. There is a TV but no TV service we could find so no TV unless you use your own Netflix account or similar.||- No coffee pot - There is a Keurig that takes special pods (none provided), had to make ‘cowboy’ coffee on the stove each morning.||- Limited cleaning supplies/towels etc. Manager did bring some supplies upon request.||- The oven is different from what you may be used to (think lighting a camp stove with a match). Again, some sort of user manual could have saved some inconvenience for all.||- Washer and dryer (well sort of..). The washing machine is also a ventless dryer that works but slowly.||- Hot water is provided by a small on demand water tank in the kitchen. Maintenance tried to adjust but it would oscillate between cold and scalding or run out of hot water altogether. We were never able to have a proper warm shower the entire time we were there.||- The kitchen was a bit skimpy on kitchen ware. We ended up going out and buying a few kitchen items on our own.||||- A few days into our trip the condo owner below us began a major renovation of their unit. While we understand that condo owners have the right to work on their units, the impact on us was that we couldn’t be in it during the day (hammering/drills/saws). We became very frustrated as we had no response on timing, and when we learned the Reno was just starting we gave up and cancelled the remainder of our reservation and moved to another property. ||||To their credit, vrbo and the manager did agree to a partial refund which was appreciated.||This was not the Cancun dream vacation we had in mind, and hope sharing our experience may be helpful to...

Read moreBased on Airbnb are Amarra Cancun!!!!! This apartment has stunning views. It creates a beautiful ambiance to be with family. All Uber eats deliveries are sent up directly to your door and it has many security clearances. However, no view or safety measure is worth this airbnb. The apartment needs maintenance. It is dated. Examples: shower curtains yellow, cracked floors, overused kitchen utensils, iron board is broken, acs barely run, toilets don’t flush properly, grime on shower floors. Although some may overlook that it. The hosts did not specify that this community serves a large number of elders whom have blatant racist ideals. The pool security instructed us to keep our music at a decent noise because they saw we had a speaker. However, residents living there began to yell when we turned our speaker on. They called security and urged them to fine us 15,000 pesos. They began to loudly state that we were new money people, that we were ghetto. They uttered more slurs that I would like to not repeat. They wanted the music to be completely off. Hosts should’ve specified pool rules and no speakers to avoid any altercation. Hosts set us up for an awful encounter. We turned it off but weird stares made us end our pool day. How disrespectful is it to call my family and I ghetto, when I myself serve my american nation. My family has brown hair and it became a target. The final cherry on top, was the hosts themselves. They sent me messages that the Airbnb was extremely dirty upon my family leaving. No specifications. The hosts have a thing of checking out at 12 pm and checking in at 3. Giving the maid only two hours to clean a four bedroom apartment. 2/4 of the bedrooms smelled like the pores of an alcoholic man. The hosts, the neighbors, and the lack of maintenance are not made up by the...
