The Condo we stayed in was just great!...It was a home away from home. The master bedroom had an amazing view, each floor had a balcony. 3 restrooms for a family of 5 was helpful. They have a laundry room that was so handy, usually we go home with dirty clothes but we got to wash before leaving! (As a mom, that's a total plus. Their kitchen is prepped with just about everything and anything you may need. Pots and pans, spices to cook, coffee maker, blender, water heater thingy. Clean water from the water jugs. The only thing i recommend is that you buy groceries for your stay. The hotel offers food,it is a buffet, like $15/20 per person and half price for kids under 12. The food is good but even tho it is a buffet, there are not many options,it is a small buffet. But it is open all day,so if you don't wanna cook, there a place nearby. Also there is a bar by the beach which was within super close walking range for us,we walked the beach to the bar and back. It was calm, nothing loud. The Condo also had beach toys for my kids. Towels for the beach and even extra sand chair for the kids . We left all day Friday and came back to a clean and fixed house, the housemaid had asked if we would like her to come by and she did our beds and new towels. They even have a safe for all the personal belongings,i liked that because i didn't want to be walking around with our passports. The place was beautiful, clean and just comfortable,i plan on returning soon.

The hotel is older, but the remnincse of a beautiful resort still exists. We didn't eat at the 1 and only restaurant, but saw a lot of people who did. There is a snack bar at the beach along with a 2nd bar. There is only 1 "adult" pool, but kids were in it. The pool is kept clean and a lifeguard is always on duty, and he does a great job. The beach is beautiful, but the ocean is very aggressive here. The sunrise is amazing from one side of the resort and sunset from the other is gorgeous. The staff are very pleasant and the grounds are very well kept. There is a small store to buy water and other novelties. We paid a deposit on a 20 litre jug and that held us over for 5 or more days. We were in a condo here at the Sol y Mar, we chose to shop in town. The R1 bus and R2 are the only busses you'll need, and they run 24 hours a day! $1.20 for each bus. Yes if you shop at Walmart, it's open 24 hours here as well. I would advise shopping before midnight or after 12:30 am, because shift change takes 30 minutes and they just leave everyone in line. 100 people at midnight all waiting to get out with no self check out. Craziest thing we ever seen 😳

The hotel was good. Close to the beach and beautiful view of the water. My room was spacious, free parking and balcony in room. They offer free Netflix in your room. This was a condominium rental. The downside was the fridge had a bad odor and did not work, no soap or shampoo (lucky I brought my own soap) balcony slide doors do not lock and no 24 hour front desk. Also I was bitten a few times by an insect in my leg and arm not sure what kind but bite marks went away. When I got back home I washed my clothes in hot water just in case. The pool water had a foggy appearance so I did not go in. But I loved the view of the beach and close to the water. The staff were friendly. Just bring insect repellant and be careful with your valuables because of sliding door not lock. Also I was fortunate when I first got there a worker led me to my room as its kind of tricky finding my room. Overall it was a good experience, just needs some improvements. But ocean views are beautiful and security stops you when entering and leaving premises which is a good thing.

If I could give 0 starts, I would. 2 weeks here, and on day 2 I was searching for other hotels, unfortunately due to Christmas and New Year, nothing available. |Positives…. |Weather was 25 to 30 c all 2 weeks, with 1 day of cloud/rain (hotel not responsible for weather). |Beach was great, (again, not hotel) hotel beach beds 0900 to 1700 only, and some shade available. |Pool was ok, but for 4 days of the 14 it wasn’t cleaned, so not good on those days. Also very cold water. Kids pool equipment good.|Cleaners outside… I will admit the outside areas/common areas were very well cleaned by the cleaning staff. Of all the staff, they were mostly happy, polite and hard working… indoor cleaners/room… non existent/rude/not helpful.|Negatives…. |Room. No towels on day 1. Room very shabby, curtains off runners, safe broken, cockroaches and centipedes under wall/skirting. Tile floor in shower, missing tiles. Mould in bathroom, 1 out of 3 bulbs in bathroom out. Panels loose (protecting pipework behind walls). Pillows rock hard. No facilities for tea/coffee/water etc.|Staff. Only 2 ever smiled (one in bar and 1 in food area.) Very unhelpful, grumpy, no customer service. Unwilling to help. Make own rules (see bar service later). They don’t like All Inc customers, and will do anything to ignore them.|Food. If you like Mexican food, it was ok, but the food was always put out on cold ban Marie’s, so every single meal was lukewarm at best, with only 1 option for non Mexican food available (some days 0 options). We did try the food, but with an 8 year old, it was hard to get something he would eat. Cold pasta was his staple for the 14 days with melon for breakfast. There was a lunch option at the beach bar, but the server was the worst person available, making it clear she didn’t want to serve anyone on an All inclusive deal, concentrating on the paying customers. It was either a burger, hotdog, nuggets and chips, however only 2 or 3 days was everything available, some days no chips, or only hot dogs. We ended up spending a fortune on cabs and food away from the hotel. Chicken was available at every meal, (even breakfast) and that seemed to be the only meat they knew about, with a few days of pulled pork. Everything was cold. Also nothing available outside of opening hours, so 0700 - 1100, 1300 to 1700, 1800 to 2300 was meal times, but nothing else available outside these times.|Bars…. All Inc from 1000 to 1800 at pool bar. 1100 to 2300 at Beach bar. This was only times drinks were available. Staff at pool bar on numerous occasions refused to serve All Inc customers until after 1100. I had to go to reception on a number of times to complain and get them to tell the staff to start serving. At all bars paying customers were prioritised over All Inc, with me waiting to be served (only 1 there) and when he finally comes out to serve me after seeing me, a cash customer turns up at the bar, he walked right past me to him, until I made a scene that I was there first.|Steps… there are a lot of steps both in the hotel and from hotel level to beach level, somehow they have 1 corridor serving 4 separate floors…. Ingenious layout, but that means stairs after stairs in the hotel, and up/down to beach bar from hotel… legs definitely got a work out.||All in all, I would not stay here again if they offered an all expenses trip. I was willing to pay to move out of this place to any other hotel…. And I wished I could have.||For a Christmas/New Year holiday, you do not want to feel that you want to come home after a few days, with that feeling getting...

We had a very unpleasant experience at Solymar Hotel during our family trip with three adult couples. My in-laws arrived on May 30, 2024, and their room was worse than what was shown in the pictures and didn't even have a mini fridge. Although we paid for the all-inclusive option, Coca Cola was not included, and only local sodas were available. The quality of the cocktails was very questionable as well.

My brother-in-law and his wife arrived the next day to find a room with a hole in the ceiling, allowing mosquitoes to enter. Despite using the AC, they couldn't sleep due to the amount of mosquitoes. My husband and I arrived on Saturday, June 1, 2024, to a very poorly maintained room. The towels were dirty, there were lipstick marks in the sink, the shower was clogged, and the bed sheets were Queen size even though our bed was King size, leaving part of the mattress exposed, which was in terrible condition.

The food in the all-inclusive package wasn't bad, but there wasn't much variety, especially for those with dietary restrictions. At the bar, only a couple of snacks were included, while the better menu items required additional payment.

The resort's location is okay, but the beach is not suitable for swimming due to many rocks, and the ocean conditions were bad, with a red flag on the beach every day. Despite temperatures over 37°C (98.6°F), we couldn't swim.

The employees' working conditions were awful. Despite the heat, they didn't even have a fan, and you could see how uncomfortable they were.

We did complain about these issues. When we addressed the manager about the mattress and the towels, he laughed at us. He said there was no solution for the broken ceiling and mosquitoes and gave us more dirty towels. We then complained to the travel agency that booked us this place, but even after they spoke to the hotel, nothing was done.

Wi-Fi is only available at the reception and restaurant, and the signal is not good. The TV in the room wasn't working either.

We were leaving very early one day and requested our breakfast to be packed the night before. We informed them that two of our party couldn't eat meat. The staff member seemed to not understand, so we asked again in the morning. He said the request was unreasonable, and after some insistence, he called the kitchen. Later, we received sandwiches with ham, posing a serious health risk for those with dietary restrictions: not even the health of its guests is a concern!

I can't stress enough how awful our experience was. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and feel that we wasted our money. We were celebrating my in-laws' 40th anniversary, and they hated it. It felt...

Absolute holiday from hell!!!! I dont believe there are words to fully describe how we felt at this so called all inclusive resort.

Started from the lobby stairs on arrival to see such a flight of steps to the lobby with absolute zero support with luggage when visibly seeing staff stood at the lobby desk with zero guests around.

Then to find a triple room booking for a father and 2 adult children of opposite sex had only 2 small beds, no chairs or sofa/sofa bed was already starting off badly.

Limited English from 99% of the staff, and on the rare occassion that housekeeping did knock the immediate mention " English" was met with immediate walking away. No housekeeping for 4 days with no fresh towels and yes you guessed it no toilet paper! Requested on multiple occassions and met with yes okay! NO ITS NOT OKAY!!!!!!

The additional single bed that was supplied aftet sleeping on a cold hard floor im sorry but ive seen better frames in Alcatraz and the mattress im not sure if had been dragged over a midy field as it was heavily stained with NO LINEN provided and yes the only day housekeeping did attend they didnt place sheets!! This was only provided on the last night we stayed of a 10 night holiday!!

A mosquito haven in the room i think with the environment it was like a paradise for them!

The seating on offer in both beach bar and the "main" restaurant where totally uncomfortable and felt at times fragile.

Broken air conditioning that needed a whole new unit after 4 days, i question if the faulty unit was the cause of my ill health whilst there!

The all inclusive element i was amazed at the lack of variety, flavours and just down right poor quality of food ive had a much higher quality in mexican restaurants in England a real dissapointment and shocking offering.

Zero interest from the onsite person/representative who i can only assume was more interested in the contents of his phone than engaging to discuss any of the OVER PRICED excursions.

Location the only good thing was it was right on the beach but this doesnt account for all short falls in other areas, the stay went downhill from Day 1 and sorry to say but 3 star rating i believe is incorrect i would not use this place as a prison as the offering is below!

Mexico hyped by many friends and family raving about the place but this hotel and lack of offering has left me seriously dissapointed!

Completely ruined the reason for going for my sons 21st Birthday! And to tick this trip off the...
