This is the only true public beach in the hotel zone. It has free showers, restrooms, changing rooms and palapas (hay roofs for shadow). All the other beaches are used by nearby hotels and they do everything to make your experience miserable if you're not their guest: no amenities, no shadow, etc.

Some tips:

• Don't mind people sitting next to changing rooms asking for tips. They are public and completely free.
• Don't overthink flags and signs from lifeguards. Usually they are just recommendations and you can swim even when the waves are big. (Be careful however, this can get dangerous - know your limits). The only dangerous situation that we encountered was the crocodile swimming by. Then they made everyone get out of the water.
• On the weekends, especially on sundays the beach is getting crowded quickly. Unfortunately it's not big enough to accommodate everyone who has no good beach at the hotel. Be sure to get here around 8 or earlier if you want a good palapa.
