We were there for two weeks recently (Jan. 2024). The location is great. The staff are numerous, friendly, and attentive. They are so helpful and enthusiastic. That is one of the big pluses. The hot water supply is good although if you are far from the water heater you may have to run the water for a few minutes before it comes out hot. The water pressure is good. The bathroom and shower allow enough room to move about comfortably and aren't cramped. The shower stall has a sliding glass door so water doesn't splash on to the floor. The bathroom in our unit had a grab bar by the toilet, and one in the shower stall, which we appreciated. As is typical of the area, you fold your used toilet paper and put it in the trash rather than flush it. There are 12 units and they are not all the same. The tile and basic decor are the same but the size of the room, size of the bed, and the layout can vary. The prices for the rooms vary. We enjoyed our unit but our bathroom shared a wall with the kitchen and utility room so we could hear some washing up. They got done around 9 p.m. so it didn't keep us up, and we got up around 6:30 a.m. so we were awake before the kitchen staff got to work. Four beds are the largest size, and the rest are smaller, either matrimonial or queen, I'm not sure which. They leave you two carafes of filtered water a day and if you need more, you can ask and someone will get you more. We did not view the 6 units which are upstairs toward the front of the building. We were in the back units, five of which are ground level and one of which is upstairs (over the unit we occupied.) Our unit had a fireplace, as did the unit over us. That was charming, even though we didn't use the fireplace. We had a little covered patio which was charming to sit on and the wifi reception was better out there. The thick walls of the units slows down wifi signals although still adequate for most purposes. They have routers inside every few units so reception in those rooms is no doubt terrific. Our wifi came from the unit on the other side of the walkway. Our room was number 11, Ocaso. One thing that occurred to me. In our unit, Ocaso, number 11, We had a window, and we had a glass door which had large panes of glass on each side. Once we were ready for privacy, we lowered the shade which covered the door and the panes of glass. If either of us had wanted to go for a walk early, while the other one slept in, we would have had a problem. To leave the room, you have to lift the blind, open the door and exit. The blind would remain up. The other person would have had to get up when you did, see you out, and then lower the blind, or they would have been visible to people who walked by. This door arrangement was rather unique, at least for all the ground level units. (The room above ours, Nublados, 12 also had that arrangement but due to being upstairs would have more privacy.) The rest of the ground level doors are traditional wooden doors. In our case, it wasn't a problem because we both got up at the same time. Our room was unique in that it didn't have a closet or armoire to hang your clothes up in, just drawers. I was told the other rooms had either a closet or armoire. We plan to return again. We felt safe there. The staff were incredible and eager to help. It was generally quiet and the other clients there were well behaved. I do wish they had small refrigerators to store leftovers in.

Outstanding Hotel! A family run, quaint, newly renovated in historic Mexican style. The service was like none other we have had. Cookies, water, lemonade offered at check in, French press coffee each morning with pastries in our room, excellent breakfast included off the menu, divine hot showers with excellent pressure, super clean and comfortable room with table and chairs. Book a year ahead to get one of the 12 fabulous rooms. Location... Can't beat it, 2 mins to Malecon, 1 minute to the square and excellent restaurants within a couple of minutes. We hit the lottery on this one. Definitely coming back for longer next year. Thank you Eric and family.

An amazing accommodation ! Extremely friendly service. Very clear communication. The room is clean, bed is both soft and firm enough- very comfortable, the pillows were fresh and clean, the shower was easy to get hot water, location was just off a public square with lots of food options. I recommend booking through their website instead of a third party. This is a family owned establishment and third party websites fees should go to this family business and not the website. Highly recommend this place for couples looking for a cute and intimate place. I enjoyed the morning French press coffee that came to my door.

I strongly recommend staying at Casa Yollotzin! We stayed Oct 2025. The hotel is perfectly located within a block of the main plaza of Ajijic, surrounded by numerous restaurants and shops of central Ajijic, and only a 10 minute walk to Lake Chapala. The hotel is beautifully designed: you enter through a lobby with a fountain, a small restaurant and bar, and on to a wonderful courtyard. The hospitality and service were above reproach, as we were welcomed and greeted with warm smiles every time we arrived and walked through the hotel. We loved our room, Ocazo, which was super nice; we loved the bathroom tiles and that the room had a private, small patio with a table where we could sit and enjoy our morning French pressed coffee and cookies (made in-house by the owner's wife), that were included during our stay, or drink wine and have dinner or appetizers from the in-house restaurant in the evenings. The bed was super comfortable as we both slept very well. Finally, a special mention of the in-house restaurant. A credit for breakfast was included in our stay, which encouraged us to try it. The breakfasts were very delicious, and because they were so delicious, we ended up eating every multiple dinners there and ordering appetizers to our room to enjoy on the patio during our stay. Everything we ate and drank during our stay was EXCELLENT! The duck confit, breakfast chilaquiles, and salsas were especially great! That we noticed that many non-guests visited the restaurant during our stay, which confirms that the restaurant has a great reputation. Finally, the last thing to mention is that the rooms do not have air conditioning. We visited in early Fall, and although the weather was beautiful, perfectly sunny, and mild with temperatures in the high 70's, our room would get a touch warm by the late afternoon, especially after being out during the day with the door closed. Fans are provided, and opening the door and window and turning on the fan quickly cooled the room for the evening. The rooms would likely get much warmer during warmer summer months, but I can imagine going to people watch in the plaza until the sun sets, and/or enjoying a refreshing drink or glass of white wine from the in house restaurant might be more than enough to keep cool. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Casa Yollotzin, and would absolutely stay there again...

Casa yollotzin took monies from my credit card before the free cancelation date. I had to cancel BEFORE my free cancelation date because my son got diagnosed with cancer. I had to send them documents from my bank, and now they say I need to pay 50 Dollars to the bank because of Mexican Bank policy. They made the "mistake " of taking the monies out in the first place now I'm supposed to pay. At first, it seemed Booking was going to help. They said I should get 100% back. Then they sent me a notice of what the place said. There is no way I should post for their mistake. I always do business with Booking and I'm very disappointed in them. Makes me think twice about using...
