I have been coming to this restaurant for 10 years. Unfortunately the last couple of years the food quality has been very inconsistent and sometimes very disappointing.. Last November, we ordered fish with Diablo sauce, and it was horrible and tasted a step above ketchup. Other things on the menu at that time we’re OK. I went with a friend of mine last week, and I had the fried red snapper, and it was way overcooked and dry, my friend had a grilled fish that was also overcooked. Then last night we went, the Peruvian ceviche was very different than we had a week before which was OK and tasty, but last night it was kind of creamy and did not taste good, just edible enough because we were hungry. We also ordered the Vallarta ceviche, and it was way over the top with lime juice, horrible, actually.. Overall, a very disappointing meal. We tried to communicate this to the server, and he thought maybe it was because of a different Chef, he was trying to find reasons or maybe excuses. we were just wanting him to know so that they can do better, we gave up. Last night may have been my last night there since the food is so inconsistent and just not very good unfortunately. However, the ambience is great, the music is great, and the service is great.

This was one of my favorite restaurants here until about a couple years ago. I hope they get it together, I don’t think the ambience can make up for the poor quality food…. for me and my friends. Other friends in the area have also shared similar concerns about the restaurant. They opened a smaller version in the center of Zona Romantica, maybe that one is better? Definitely does not have the beachfront ambience of the...

There was a line outside and the bar was full, the hostess said it would be 30 minutes so we put our name on the list. In about 4 minutes we had a seat at the bar and 5 minutes later a drink in hand.

The place was busy and that could mean two things, either the food is great or the service is slow. It was the prior. The food is pretty darn good and the drinks are as well.

It was our first time here based on a recommendation from a patron at Monzón Brewery and it held up to his hype.

We didn’t ask for a beach table but we got lucky and we got seated about 20 minutes before sunset. It was perfect.

We started out with the garlic shrimp pan and we shared a whole snapper. The shrimp were excellent and having some bread along with it provided and second appetizer as we dipped into the garlic oil left in the pan.

The snapper was cooked very well and the meat flacked off the bones. It would be nice if the plate included more vegetables than a piece of broccoli, a couple of carrots, cucumber and small serving of rice.

Why four stars, mainly for the last comment. A plate with a whole fish seems incomplete without something additional like a decent serving of vegetables and served on a bed of rice. Overall it was a good dining experience, the service was friendly and attentive. I would recommend El Barracuda, just show up early and bring a little patience at the beginning. If you can, find a seat at the bar and the wait won’t...

This was a difficult one to review.

While my meal was amazing, my mom’s was probably the worst she’s had in PV.

The restaurant was an easy short walk from our hotel, which was nice. Pleasantly located right up on the beach, so we got a good view.

Started with two margaritas. Nothing special.

I ordered the steak and shrimp, medium rare. She ordered the ribs and steak, medium.

My steak was very flavorful and cooked well. The shrimp was pretty basic, but still delicious. I enjoyed what the server called a chimichurri sauce, though in accustomed to chimichurri bring a green sauce. Either way, it was still delish. The fries were incredibly disappointing- they tasted worse than McDonald’s fries, as they weren’t even salted. This is an unfortunate aspect of the meal as it’s incredibly easy to elevate the fries, even if they don’t want to make fresh fries.

My moms steak was inedible. It was extremely tough and difficult to chew. She couldn’t cut through it so she eventually tried to bit it like a caveman. Still couldn’t be done. She had the same cut as me. The ribs has a good sauce on them, but they were very tough and difficult to eat. Her fries were the same.

The service was just ok. Felt like our server would quickly rush off b when something was dropped off, so we had to very quickly ask frying a before they sprinted away.

I probably wouldn’t...

For what is a beachside restaurant that people would generally come to for the view, the food and service match the spectacular location. Although one can tell that they must push through patrons in relative high quantities, the service never feels rushed or rude. The bar remains full with boisterous patrons, while the restaurants hums with activity and servers spending time at tables with the classic Mexican jokes while dishing out plates upon plates of the interesting dishes. There is a fat, friendly restaurant dog to clean up the messes and local beers to enjoy as the sun sets. What else could you want? The food is excellent with a menu that would please all palates from full fried fish to a warm deconstructed dynamite roll. For what it is, it may seem priced highly, but you must expect it at this location, for the view, for the ambiance and for the service. I have no regrets and would recommend it to those seeking these specific qualities for their Puerto Vallarta visit.
