After seeing Mark Wiens and Mexipapa visit during a recent episode, we thought we'd give it a shot on a Sunday night in February and boy are we glad we did. Immediately upon sitting down we were given a selection of 3 different delicious condiments, some bagged tostada, and packaged saltines. The English descriptions on the menu were very clear so we felt confident in recognizing the options, but still asked the friendly and professional server for recommendations. Eventually we settled on the tostada consentida, and it was the perfect blend of crunch from the tostada, savory from the spice blend, sweetness from the mixed seafood, and tang from the onions and lime. Definitely get the mayo option! We also had the mixed cazuela especial la tia, and it was very good, with tons of really good seafood, although the broth was quite salty - to the point where I couldn't finish it, although some may tolerate it better than me. The highlight was the fresco la tia cocktail, which was cold, sweet and savory and packed with big chunks of delicious seafood. The portion sizes were great, and left me feeling like there was great value for money. Everything was exceptionally clean, and I also want to make special mention of the service which was exceptional. You will be doing yourself a favour by going here for anything on the...
Read moreI was blown away by the food at Mariscos La Tía. From the street, it's hard to tell what is on store for you. Inside, it looks like a regular taqueria you'd find anywhere along the side streets of el 5 de Diciembre.
Then the menu arrived in the form of a professionally printed placemat with way more items than you'd expect, all reasonably priced. My wife ordered a tostada and one taco, bot con marlin ahumado. She expected two small portions, but was overwhelmed with two heaping plates of delicious smoked fish and salsa. After finishing the taco and starting on the tostada, she had to surrender and take the rest home.
I opted for the burrita con sazon de la casa, and I had no idea what I was in for. I expected a marlin burrito drenched in sauce - messy and delicious. What I got was a gourmet presentation with a full two pounds of meat, veggies, and sauce. You have to look at the picture attached to comprehend the beauty of their plating-- my wife said "it looks like beautiful sushi!" 🤣
We both had drinks and left very happy, completely stuffed, and wholly satisfied with the experience. All of this was just over 400 MXP, including a 100 MXP tip. You can't beat the...
Read moreWith locations in Zona Romantica and near the Airport Mariscos La Tía Ñaña has been serving Puerto Vallarta since 1975, recent renovations creating a more friendly space at the original where locals as well as tourists sit down for quality Seafood served at a fair price.
Known for using only locally-caught Seafood, think juicy Mexican White Shrimp fried in light Tempura for their Battered Shrimp Tacos, most folks visiting La Tía Ñaña do so for raw preparations in big portions such as signature Ceviche or a version with Pickled Pork Skin.
Not forgetting vibrant Aguachiles in dark Sauce, a good balance of Salt and Acid, suffice it to say the eponymous “La Tia” Taco earns its accolades with Butter and Garlic cooked Seafood plus a Cheese crisp for contrast and a...
