Little disclaimer: I totally understand that you do not want kids or babies in your restaurant. However, if you want to be an upscale place, behave like it and treat your customers like it.

So, little story to help your management to better themselves in the future:

We made a reservation 48h before on opentable specifically stating in the comments that we would be with a baby. Reservation was accepted. No calls, no emails in the following 48h.

We arrive, enter, and the barman welcomes us. Then another guy arrives and bars us from entering further. Looks at us from toes to hair, very complacently. We say we have a reservation and he says very coldly that they don’t accept babies and stroller. We say, “ok” but you could have told us before… as we stated in the reservation. No apologies, “just it’s written on the page of opentable” (screenshot attached, spoiler alert, it’s not, however they accept dogs and vegans 👍). Then the guy sends us on our way. Just to be clear, restaurant was empty except one table and we made a reservation at 7.30 to be out when it’s fuller as not to disrupt service too much.

It’s not the end of the world. Just a bit of a hassle. We went just a block north to Tullia / Uniik where we were warmly welcomed and where the food is exquisite. I really recommend.

However, just a tip for the future: read the comments on your reservation. It’s not like you have 100s of them. The restaurant is like 10 tables. What if it was about allergies? Secondly, engage with your customers. Being a fancy and upscale place doesn’t equal to cold, smile-less and complacent service with a black outfit. It just means that you have a good place, with good food, good wine and quality products with above average service… which you, by the look of it,...

The chefs menu at Agua de Mar is astoundingly good, some of the best food I've ever had after dining all over the world at a variety of Michelin star restaurants. The ambiance and decor are wonderful; the setting is both modern and charming, and the location is superb. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have mentioned, the service is atrocious. The main waiter with the small mustache is not only annoyed that you are there, he is rude. He answers questions about the fairly complex menus with sarcasm, and he refuses to crack a smile. He wants you to know what food they will not prepare for you because he wants to leave. We entered over an hour before closing time, and he was aggressive about informing us that we probably shouldn't be there. If you don't want customers to enter after 830pm, then lock the door. Why be rude? The cocktails and wine are also fabulous, and when you say thank you or dare utter a compliment, you will be left with a cold, dead gaze - no smile, no reply. The most emotion we received was at the time of payment when he tried to say that my credit card "was declined." But upon showing him that the charge went through on my banking app, his sour expression returned, and I was asked to sign and leave a tip. What a waste of a beautiful restaurant, a stunning menu, and support staff that deserve whatever income they derive from the tips of customers who are actually welcomed. If you don't want to be in the service industry, then find another job. There are many reviews about this waiter specifically that go back for months or more. Makes you wonder if he is the boyfriend of the chef? Nobody else would stand for this kind of...

I want to give a big middle finger to the haters as if any one of you have the guts to save your money and open up a restaurant! Exactly you won’t so go back to your robot job and all the people who have a passion for life and food to create and allow them to give their gifts to the community who appreciates them. Next time when people feel they are so riotous to give some low rating do to their spoiled entitlement. Why don’t give your comment to the chef if you really wanted to give honest feedback. What you do is so low you don’t even deserve a kind response from them. We are in a new era now and this one is the customer is not always right!!! So to you entitled losers out there time to understand if you want respect in this life it’s you have to earn it and by typing away behind a keyboard shows how much of a zero you are!! All the chefs and staff at this restaurant have earned our respect it’s time to give it to them!!! If you have some comment tell them that’s how humans behave and they deserve it. With an end note to the Agua de Mar team!! Your food is amazing don’t let these zeros influence you! Keep up your passions and serve what you love and of you do that then the people will love it and enjoy it don’t cater to these types of people because they have one goal when they go out to eat and that is to find some reason to give someone a low rating because they...

As someone who can appreciate a restaurant, not just as a consumer but as someone in the industry - this place was one of the best meals I've had. The space was beautiful and open. The wine list and liquor choices were intentional and delicious - it was wonderful to see such amazing Mexican viticulture available. The food was also spectacular - everything from the Huitlachoche and Carrot Koji, the Chione Clams, the Conch with Aguachile, the Black Tempura Shrimp, and Coconut dessert. The modern twist on Yucatan classic ingredients and intentionality of it all was on par with what I'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. Everyone was passionate about what they do and it shows in everything they do. Come in with an open mind ready to try something new and you won't leave disappointed. If I could fly in to Merida every week to eat here I would. Thank you Valerie, Adrian and Chef Luis for the most amazing time! Keep doing what you're doing - much love from the ATL wine & food community.
