This review is overdue. I went to this place based on a recommendation from a friend who frequently travels to Mexico City, and it could not have been better! The owner was incredibly kind, taking the time to teach me about the different types of agaves used for mezcal, allowing me to try a few she thought I would enjoy based on my palate. She is incredibly passionate about mezcal and about her shop- and it really shows!! It was incredibly educational and fun, and I left with some incredible small producer mezcals that all my friends at home in the states rave about.
My friend that sent me, who is MUCH more knowledgeable about mezcal than me, makes sure to stop at this place every time he’s in CDMX. He tells me he learns more every time he does!
I could not recommend this place more! If you have any interest in learning about mezcal, supporting small producers or just buying a really great bottle of mezcal that you can’t dine anywhere else; this...
Read moreOur mezcal tasting experience at Mezcalia was nothing short of amazing, thanks to our incredible host, Debora. From the moment we arrived, she brought an energy that was both charismatic and engaging. She had us laughing, learning, and, most importantly, appreciating mezcal on a whole new level.
Debora’s knowledge of agave, the production process, and the different varieties of mezcal was truly impressive. What stood out the most was her unbiased approach. She didn’t push any particular brand but instead guided us through the nuances of each tasting, helping us find what suited our own palates best.
We were offered a generous selection of mezcals to taste, each one unique and rich in tradition. By the end of the experience, I walked away not just with a new appreciation for mezcal, but also with great memories of an educational and fun evening. If you're looking to dive into the world of mezcal, this tasting with...
Read moreThere are several reasons why buying here is not a good idea: Their inventory is not up to date, they couldn’t fulfill the order as they said. They send the wrong product, they have people not reading the labels correctly and sending the wrong varietal. Bad customer service. When I explained they sent the wrong bottle, I asked for a refund and they just stop replying. THEY DONT KNOW MEZCAL. The owner tried to convince me that a regular espadín was pechuga. She argued that this was “pechuga de mezcal” and that they only add espadín instead of other ingredients.
The last point was just hilarious, you have to be very lost or I’ll intentioned to try to pass a regular espadín for pechuga.
There are plenty of mezcal places in México, save yourself a headache...
