Roomies Hostel Condesa — Hotel in Mexico City

1. If you are coming here to sleep, think again.
2. Dishonest customer service.

This place has events that can last from 9pm-4:50am with music blasting and people screaming. The walls were extremely thin so you can hear everything. It felt like we were in a night club. In addition to that, people are loudly talking and walking up and down the stairs at 8am. We got 3 hours of sleep.

When we quickly realized there weren’t any quiet hours, we asked the front desk asking how long the party would last and he it ends at 1am. So we decided to stick it out. Then 2am begins approaching and it’s still going. The reception reassures us it’s a hard cut off at 2am, so again we believe him and think the music will end by 2. Then 3am, 4am, 4:50am and finally the music cuts off.

Why lie? We would have been happy to pay for the room and another hotel just to get some sleep.

We had planned to visit CDMX to study Spanish but had to cancel the trip last minute as my partner had fallen seriously unwell.

I called to cancel our reservation but the receptionist said she didn’t speak any English and neither did anybody who works there. I found this strange, given she explained this to me in perfect English. I wouldn’t usually expect somewhere to have an English speaking member of staff but a hostel in an international city would be one of the few exceptions.

I sent an email with proof of an appointment for a Cancer screening and a doctors note advising against travel but I never got a reply.

Every other place we had planned to visit has either rescheduled, refunded or provided a discount of future bookings. Roomies didn’t even email us back. When we are able to reschedule our trip, I think we will look elsewhere anyway as it looks like most of the...

The pictures on Google were looking fine! The price is also super attractive, but we were really disappointed. We got the room on top of an emergency stair. I could hear everything the neighbours were saying (coughing, alarm, phone). The room wasn't clean (hairs...). And the on the doorstep of the room is the boiling machine, making a huge continuous sound everytime someone flushes the toilet or takes a shower. I would not recommand at all.
