On November 15th I called the hotel directly and spoke to the manager, Alberto Aquilar, and asked him if he had a room available the following night, Nov. 16th; he said he did, and that the rate was 400 pesos MZ per night. He took down my name and telephone # and said he would reserve a room for me. I asked him if he wanted my credit card # but he said that was not necessary. I told him I would be traveling by bus from Queretaro, and to expect me around 8pm in the eveing.||||As this was a holiday weekend and rooms were scarce, I was a little concerned that he didn't take down my credit card #, so I sent him a follow up email to confirm my reservation the following day, November 16th., to which he replied confirming my reservation. ||||The following evening I arrived at the street address, but there is no signage with the name of the hotel. Regardless I ring the bell, a young teenage boy answers, and it turns out that this is the hotel. However, the boy says he doesn't have a record of my reservation, and regardless, the hotel is completely sold out with no available rooms. I explained to him that I reserved a room with the manager over the telephone, and showed him my confirmation email; he says sorry, there's nothing he can do. ||||I then get into a conversation with a Mexican lady and her daugher who are sitting in the lobby and VERY unhappy--she has a confirmed reservation at Casa Aura via booking.com,. The teenage boy confirms that her reservation shows up in his system, but nonetheess they don't have a room for her either! I then asked the boy to call the manager on the phone, which he does, but he soon hangs up and says that the manager doesn't want to speak to me!!||||The Mexican lady is #$%&^ off, and tells the boy in no uncertain terms that it is his responsibility to find she and her daughter a room. He tries, but as it's a holiday weekend every hotel he calls is sold out. ||||End of story, we finally find two rooms (for double the price!) at a really sketchy hotel located near the bus station. We take it as it's better than sleeping in the streets, but obviouly neither of us is happy about it.||||Whatever you do don't book a room at Casa Aura--they don't even have enough pride in their business to have a sign indicating that they are indeed a hotel, and clearly they don't give a @#$^% about their guests!! There's not much worse than ending up in a strange city at night with no hotel reservations and all the hotels in town...
Read moreDISGUSTING EXPERIENCE AT CASA AURA CHINCHES EN CASA AURA ASQUEROSOS Woke up at 2 am thinking I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes when we found out it was bed bugs. We killed a few and took videos. We had chosen to sleep on top of the covers as the pillows and covers had a funky smell, and while looking for bed bugs we realized we made a good call since the sheets were dirty. There was no one available to help us switch rooms so we had to stay there til 7 am. The beds are super uncomforable and old, the floor was dirty and that was the only place we could put our stuff in since they only have one chair and a tiny little "desk". I left a note at the front desk, which the lady who saw it in the morning seemed oddly unbothered by. She tried tried explaining that they had just fumigated the day before, and that my giant red marks all over my face, neck, arms, shoulders, back, and legs could not possibly be from bed bugs in their hotel. Luckily we had video evidence and also pictures of how the bites looked at 2 am, since by 7 am they already looked much worse. They offered to switch rooms or fumigate the same one. We switched rooms only to be faced with the same problem. But we were all going as a team for a competition so we couldn't really move out that easily and we only came in to sleep. I am appaled by the situation, it is one of the most disgusting things I've ever been through and I hate that they didnt take account for it and tried to dismiss it. I take it they get it a lot, because fumigating doesn't kill bed bugs, I read you have to throw everything away or burn it so they actually die. I don't know really, I am just disgusted by all the marks on my body and the horrible itch, that will take 2 weeks to disappear and the lack of remorse from these people or urgency to...
Read moreIf I could give it 0 stars I would. Upon arrival they took around 15 min to open the door. After finally opening, the receptionist greated us with a temper. While we were checking in I asked her a question, there was no response, I thought maybe she hadn't heard so I repeated the question again. Her response was "yes! give me a second!" After around a 30 min of bad temper while checking us in we decided to just leave and find a different hotel. We didn't even make it to the room before deciding to leave..... the lady at the receptionist should really reconsider her job in service if that's how she treats people. The hotel we found was around the same price, near the heart of morelia and the staff was super friendly...
