5/5|Vacation ❘ Couple|Great location on 1st Avenue, between Calle 12 & 16, where you can see, smell & easily walk to the Caribbean Sea, just a few seconds walk to restaurants & 5th Avenue & within minutes of other great restaurants & the grocery store. But quiet due to the beautiful & relaxing waterfall that provided background ambiance. We loved the heated hot tub, the small pool & the luscious gardens. We spent our afternoon siestas relaxing on our patio, with frosty cocktails & board games. I even had a nap one afternoon on the leaf shaped lounger on our 2nd shady patio!|Condo was kept in immaculate shape all week long by Sarita & her team. Bed made, always lots of towels, coffee filters, paper towel, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner & lotion. And Eric kindly brought us ice, twice! They really cannot do enough for you. Muchas gracias for making us feel at home.|Of note, the pool heater was broken but we were offered use of the heated pool just up the street. We found the couch & bed quite firm & there were no mattress toppers available for the bed. None of that mattered in the end & we are already booked to go back for another stay at our oasis, our home away from home!|Rooms. 5.0 Service 5.0 Location 5.0|Hotel highlights. Luxury · Quiet|Rooms. Clean, quiet, spacious. Well equipped.|Nearby activities. Our main focus was walking around absorbing the sights & culinary delights & there was no shortage of either!|Safety. Heavy iron gate guards the entrance. Both condo doors locked. Safe provided. We felt completely safe at all times.|Walkability. You can easily walk to everything we wanted from here, although morning or evening worked best for us. It got a bit hot for me one afternoon & after that we avoided anything other than very short jaunts between noon & 4 due to midday heat.|Food & drinks. Our understanding is guests of Maya Villa receive a discount at the following restaurants, plus 1 other La Vagabunda, that we did not get to. KobMa restaurant is at street level below the condos. We enjoyed the appetizer sampler (delicious-apart from edamame which tasted good but was stringy, roc shrimp sushi roll & seaweed battered shrimp roll, both tasty, hubby thought best he ever had, I thought average. We'd order the sampler again. Price wise, fairly high end, almost $1100 pesos, about $120 Cdn. with tip, including 2 Corona & a non-alcoholic lemonade. Service was good. Both drinking glasses were chipped, unexpected given the $. Had to request the 10% discount for Maya Villa customers despite our wrist bands. Maybe that's how it works, not sure. Open 4pm-late. El Gobernador restaurant is only steps north from KobMa, right next door, same side. Caesar chicken salad was fresh although not spectacular. Fish tacos were excellent. As were the Gin & tonics. Higher priced. Can't recall exactly. I do recall seeing a burger & fries advertised for $250 pesos. Had to request the 10% discount for Maya Villa customers here too. Open late. Hubby liked both of these better than I, I think mainly due to the price on my part! Asi beach club just steps south from condo. 250 pesos for a big breakfast, looked good, really good, we didn't have, maybe next trip. Buy your coupons at condo front desk otherwise 299mxn. Had an orangeaid (utterly delicious) & a cappucino. Not inexpensive. No discount given but we didn't ask either as we only had drinks. Lots of great restaurant options available close by at reasonable prices.|Noteworthy details. Exceptionally clean, great location, excellent service. Safe. Friendly,...
Read moreWe really love the location, which far outweighs any of the cons we could identify. This place is sandwiched between the beach (not the greatest beach but still decent enough) and Quinta Avenida. We never even thought of renting a car as this place is so walkable. We got to try all sorts of different food spots this way. The hotel is very small and comprised of privately owned condo units. We were in 208, a 2 bedroom 2 bath family friendly unit. The kitchen was more than adequate and the fridge was spacious. The swimming pools were just right. My 5 year old son even thought the lower pool was his own private pool! Major kudos on the noise mitigation. We slept very well in this quiet little enclave that sits so near a super busy and loud promenade that is Quinta Avenida.||Guests at this hotel get a wristband that gains them access to their sister properties such as El Taj just up the street, nearer to the beach. You also get discounts at some nearby eateries and a free 10 minute sampler massage at a nearby spa. We tried El Gobernador and had some amazing fresh seafood at a discount. | |As mentioned before, one can turn a blind eye to some of the shortcomings of this hotel solely because of its prime location and amenities, which earn it a 5 dot review from me on this platform. I cannot omit the fact that the unit felt a little dated in terms of the overall styling and some of the decor. The layout is a little awkward and cramped when it comes to the common areas, especially the oddly arranged back patio seating areas. Not the most useful arrangement because I could be sitting out on a lounge chair and looking straight into the next door neighbor's bedroom or vice versa. We mostly just used that space to air out the wet swimwear. The vacant space on the south side of the hotel took away from the curb appeal as it made it appear a little run down.||The service was very friendly and personable. The housekeeping was exceptional. The place looked and smell clean even for its...
