El Gober — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

I blame myself for giving El Gobernador a second chance and visiting again for dinner after this was the only restaurant in PDC I have had a negative experience with the bill. Specifically with the card terminal. If I hadn't paid closer attention, my male server tried to charge me more than double (like 120%) my balance on my card. When I confronted him about it, he said that this is what it should be and then went back, after five minutes he returned and said that actually I'm right and now put in my correct balance for dinner. Needless to say, the second time I choose not to leave a tip (the first time I put 15% and noticed the double cost right before tapping my card), after the card payment went through, the server started begging for a tip with no remorse for just having almost ripped me off for double the bill.

I've learned my lesson and will not be returned or recommending it to my colleagues.

This place is so incredibly good. I honestly have no words. The food is absolutely amazing. From the tacos to the seafood stew( by the way, best thing on the menu). And the service is insane. If I could, I would give the service of this place MORE than 5 stars. All of the staff, day or night, are all in a good mood. They are also very kind and efficient. They come to you as soon as you sit down. The food always comes out fast and fresh. The look of this place is just as nice as it actually is. It's very beachy and chill. PLEASE don't listen to the things online that the only place you can find good food is fith ave. This is definitely incorrect. This place is off of fith ave and amazingly good and delicious. My friend came to Playa for a weekend and she wanted seafood and asked me where should we eat for dinner that has good seafood. I recommended this restaurant because it was near her Airbnb. I told her I haven’t tried it but they have very good reviews.

Great and flavorful food!!! I got the tuna sashimi and shrimp tacos. DELICIOUS!!! The tuna sashimi was so fresh and good. The sashimi was marinated in soy sauce. Yum!!! The shrimp tacos were one of the best shrimp tacos I have had in Playa!!! So yummy!!!!
