My husband and I returned from Playa del Carmen this week. We rented a condo through Bric vacation rentals after researching the properties they offered. We are accustomed to renting when we travel and have never had a problem. Unfortunately that was not the case with PK32. Our rep Issac was nice. Initially he was not going to leave the cell phone included because he said that most people do not use it. I was glad that I asked him for it, because we did need to call him a few times. ||When we arrived we noticed that the pool was murky with patches of dirt and something that looked like chipped plastic. The next day I saw maintenance working on it and they said the pump was broken. I specifically booked a place with a pool. It was never fixed in 7 days. I was looking forward to hanging out on our rooftop patio and going for dips in between. Never happened. When we went up to the rooftop the whirlpool had old stagnant water with bugs in it. I called our Bric rep and he sent someone over immediately to clean it, but he was not even aware that the community pool was not usable. The inside of the whirlpool was chipped and discoloured. I felt better when my husband said he would never go in it. I thought I was being a diva. He said that it did not look like something he wanted sit in. I thought I would at least put my legs in. When I tried to fill the whirlpool the next day the plunger would not stay down. It kept draining and would not fill. We had an outside whirlpool in Thailand. Filling it was not a problem. I decided not to bother our rep again. By this point our internet was acting up. No problem, that can happen. By our 3rd day there was a message on our iPad saying service had been suspended. The tv was down also. I called our rep. A tech came and said we needed a new modem. We did not see him again that day and did not receive any info from Bric.||By our 5th day we were mad. The pool and whirlpool could not be used and the internet and tv were not working. We did not need the tv, but if we wanted it we could not use it. I went to the Bric office and spoke to April. She was amazing. She did not make any empty promises. She admitted she was not sure if the pool or internet would be fixed before we left. She offered us the use of the pool at the Bric Hotel and their internet which was a 10 minute walk from our place. Their pool was nice I wish we knew earlier in our trip that we could go there. People were actually swimming there! I realize the beach is the main event but it is also nice to have a pool. April was very apologetic and wanted to do something for us. I suggested a ride to the airport and she conceded. The next morning the cleaners knocked on our door at 9:30. It was our 2nd last day and we wanted to sleep in. In Spanish I asked them to return in 2 hours. At 10:00 there was another knock on the door. It was the maintenance man with 3 tech guys. Nobody told us they were coming. One man did the work while the 3 others stood around and watched. Housecleaning returned at that time as well, even though I had asked them to return at 11:30. They waited at the open door instead of returning. It was our 2nd last day and 6 people were at our condo by 10:30. My husband was awakened and angry. We grabbed our things and left. When we returned we tried the internet. Our password did not work anymore and a new one was not left. We still did not have internet or tv after all that. We did not even bother to call our rep. We walked over to The Bric Hotel and used their amenities. That evening we barbecued on our rooftop. My husband grabbed one of our 6 dining chairs and reclined. I took the other and sat back. I immediately fell on my back (I am 5'2, 115 pounds). My husband checked it. The chair had bolts missing and was broken. Luckily I did not hurt myself. The condo was nice, it is close to the beach. The complex property was clean. Their driver Jose was friendly. Housekeeping did a great job (yes we left them a tip). Unfortunately we did not have the amenities advertised and that was disappointing. I did write an email to the Bric, but never had a response from management. I hope that this review will move the management to address the issues at Playa Kaan so that anyone else who stays there will have the amenities...
Read moreWe stayed inPlaya Kaan #6 rented thru Vimex Vacation rental February and March 2017.||The biggest complaint we had was the noise, especially the people noise on 12th street, starting from about 10:00 p.m lasting until 5:00 a.m. every day. The early morning people noise was significant, as it appeared these people were coming from the night clubs, also located on 12th street. Additionally, there was the constant "boom" "boom" music at night, assumingly coming from these clubs, continuing until about 4:00 a.m. Interestingly, before booking, I asked very specifically if the condo was quiet for sleeping at night. We were told by Vimex "the condo was very quiet by night." After complaining of the noise, on the second day of our stay, we were told sound-proofing curtains would be installed within a week. Before the week was up, we were told no sound-proofing curtains would be installed, rather the owner had authorized the installation of better sound-proof windows, which would be done in 10 days. A few days later, we were told nothing was going to be done. We were offered other condos, but they were in undesirable locations or at an additional expense. So, we endured a lot of sleeplessness every night because of the noise, which included groups of up to approximately 25 people, hooting, hollering, and/or singing, as they passed by. A drunk vomited right outside our window, as well as a man urinating. The night security man did his best but couldn't control everything. Because of the cockroaches, the condo had to be fumigated three times in our two-month stay. The cleaning service was substandard. For example, the rug in the living room area was full of dirt and sand. Two outside sitting chairs for the condo, were supposed to be available but found out the owner had given them away. There were times none of the four sitting chairs were in the pool area, typically due to a condo owner borrowing them for entertaining guests, or they were all in use. Vimex ended up providing chairs. There was some disrepair in the condo, such as the window screen in the bedroom. It was pulled from one side of it's frame and missing the brush to prevent bugs from coming in. Again, Vimex did eventually take care of this. Except for these complaints, the location is great. Mostly because of the noise, it was not worth the rent we paid. Unless we know something is done with the windows to curtail noise, we will not stay at...
Read moreThis is a great location a few blocks from the beach or a few blocks from the local restaurants. There are great local bars and places to eat a few steps from 5th av lots of action. The wind was blowing a few days so some seaweed to deal with but once the wind died down the beach and waterer were great. The locals are friendly and helpfull helps to speak a few words of spanish. We rented a condo at ||playa Kaan its condo pk23 Through Vimex. When we checked in we were a few hours early guess its not a hotel so where would you put your stuff the girl from Vimex said she would meet us early but they were still cleaning room that was great we had place to put our stuff. The condo was listed with vimex but they just give you the keys the owners don't pay them to manage so any problems need to be taken up with owners of the property. We went into the condo there were a few problems we found no TV in leaving area there was a broken TV in the stairs entrance for Terrance. We asked for a replacement and were told there are TV's in the bedrooms? Well after a day in the haft a tv showed up in front of our door its was a tube tv a little smaller then the one that was there but a tv. Oh It was left for us to hook up. Last thing to list is 2 privet baths its 1 full bath with a haft bath and terrace shower has no curtins so just good for cleaning off after beach. I had a great time so trip was...
