The best hotel for girl trips to Mexico and Excellent Customer Service!
Sometimes, it’s just not the place but the customer service that makes a great vacation. I originally had an Airbnb booked for my birthday trip with 5 of my friends, but I needed the ease and convenience of being beach side and all of the amenities, but not go over budget. I also didn’t want to book 2 different rooms for my small group. I was excited to find Zamas Hotel. I was happy to book their Coconut Grove Grande to fit all 6 of us in one cute cabana that overlooked coconut groves and literally steps away from the beach. It fit the experience I was looking for our first trip to the Riviera Maya. The experience began with great customer service from Ileana, Gabi and Danielle who answered many of my questions on WhatsApp before the trip. I am an over planner, but they answered ALL of my questions that made me a well informed traveler before we arrived. The best part was that they helped me arrange tours with local contractors to Chitzen Itsa, Cenotes, Sian Kaan, and even arranged the booking of group massages on the morning of my birthday. They even arranged for our shuttle pickup and Covid tests before we left. Read the info about the hotel. You will not get a typical American continental breakfast. You will however get the best Mexican food for breakfast lunch and dinner from Que Fresco with food that represents the real local flavor. I don’t care much for continental breakfast, but enjoyed the best chilaquiles, tacos, margaritas, etc. Because the restaurant of Zamas Hotel was voted one of the best restaurant of Tulum in 2021. Also, if you want water, a fridge or electric kettle, Zamas will provide if you ask, for no extra charge! Great communication is key and Zamas delivered. My friends and I enjoyed all the amenities as listed above because I asked for them in advance. My friends and I felt well taken care of, all due to the great customer service of Ileana, Gabi and Danielle (Please Zamas, they deserve a raise).
Zamas is located in the quieter end of the Zona Hoteleria so its’ a great location to relax. This was the ideal location as awesome restaurants and unique shops/ boutiques were all around us. We also enjoyed the convenience of getting cash from a currency exchange place and 7 eleven just 5 minutes walk away. We also enjoyed walking down to the Papaya Playa Project, Azulik, SFER IK, and Kin Toh ( all major destinations/ landmarks of Tulum) and they were just literally 5 mins walk from the Hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of Zamas the hammocks outside our cabana, the view and sound of ocean and breezes, the amazing restaurant Que Fresco, the pool that we were able to walk to every day across the street, the amenities provided for us as, stated above.
Muchas gracias Ileana, Gabi y Danielle. ¡Fue su servicio al cliente lo que hizo que nuestra primera visita a Tulum fuera la mejor experiencia! ¡Gracias por hacer que mi viaje de cumpleaños sea...
Read moreZamas Hotel Tulum is a friendly, relaxing, low key place to stay when visiting Tulum. ||We stayed in a cottage on the beach in a Beachfront Chica which we loved, although it is small (partly because the bed is so enormous!) ||The beds are incredibly comfortable with good quality sheets, cleaned every day and we found fresh towels were given daily too - partly as there’s nowhere for them to dry. I think the other beachfront accommodation is much roomier. ||The bathroom is pretty spacious and they have the most incredible honey shower gel, and shampoo etc. Gorgeous! You have the gentle sound of the waves at night, and pass the day, watching the Pelicans diving for fish in the bay, plus if you are up at 7am you get to see the sunrise. ||The staff made it memorable, particularly Fernando on reception, who was extremely kind to us. Valentino, Louis, and Louis-Armando in the restaurant were friendly, smiling and efficient. Food was good too and they have Happy Hour (3-6pm) deals on Margaritas and Tacos. It’s quiet, until around 5pm when people (including locals which was nice to see) come to hang out on the rocks or to watch the sunset.||Location is good (although it’s not a great beach for swimming), in that you can walk (to the right if facing the sea) to a fantastic beach which goes on and on for kilometres, to swim or sunbathe or eat - try Le Zebra. Only issue is getting onto it as most hotels try to block access. We were directed by Daniel to go in through La Eufemia, as they allow anyone to come onto the beach and drinks are pretty cheap comparative to the rest of that beach. Because of this, it is always heaving, so just keep walking. You will find huge stretches with no one there!||One negative about this stunning beach is that the resorts are supposed to collect seaweed and rubbish from the shoreline, as lots of plastic gets brought in, and while most do a reasonable job, some just rake the sand where loungers are and leave the rest, so I spent at least an hour plus, every day collecting it and giving it or dumping it by the closest resort. My feeling is, if they are making a living from the sea and beach, they should collect all the trash, not just some of it, really take care of it for everyone.||I loved Zamas Tulum, and would recommend it, however don’t bother getting a cottage on the other side of the road near the pool, as it’s too noisy from the sound of traffic on the busy road. It must have been idyllic years ago, unfortunately there’s only one road currently and lots of trucks providing water and services to all...

Stayed on the property for nearly a week, as part of a wedding party. From day one of arriving nearly 20 hours after my wife's and my flight (from Dubai) we were greeted by hands down one of the most personable, friendly, and professional front of house staff members I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with (Dante). He was not only gracious enough to see our bags were wheeled to our room (we were staying on the other side of the beach road - near the pool area) but offered us a welcome drink just in time for sunset!
During the entirety of the stay, we were ALWAYS greeted with friendly, smiley, and considerate staff. Everyone from housekeeping to the restaurant. Whilst the property is split into areas, it still retains a lot of personal touches, and most staff were always quick to greet us by our names. We truly felt like we were family, not just guests!
I had requested treats in light of my wife's birthday and each and every request was handled spot on, from the feedback of management to staff rolling out the surprises. Again yet another memorable experience. Equally front of house (Dante and Gabriel) were kind enough to help with bookings of excursions as well as restaurant reservations.
The property is absolutely breathtaking. with sweeping views of the Tulum beach coastline, a little "coconut grove" sprinkled with hammocks and beach chairs, and a pretty substantial cooled pool (not necessarily common in most Tulum properties). Equally, I found it located in a less congested section of the Tulum beach road, with enough little shops, restaurants/bars, and other aptly appointed hotels to make it more valuable, particularly if you don't have a vehicle.
An amazing restaurant (Que Fresco) is also located on the property - must have had nearly 12 meals on site, each better than the next! Inclusive of the friendly and poignant staff (shout out to Miguel).
The only slight annoyance was the severity of seaweed washing ashore to most of Tulum's beaches, including the stretch on Zamas'. Obviously, this is no fault of the property, and I have to commend them on their efforts of an attempt to dispose of it daily.
I would most definitely stay here on my next trip to Tulum (which I hope is sooner rather than later). My only regret was having decided to book another hotel down the road for the last 2 nights...
