Just finished a three night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Center and I cannot speak highly enough of the accommodations and the staff. We were greeted late in the evening after a long ferry ride and taxi from Tanger Med by a warm staff member who I wish I had written down his name. He offered us an upgrade which put us on the 13th floor with a gorgeous view of the Strait of Gibraltar. In the room, we were met by a nice greeting card and some sweets. The breakfast buffet was a wonderful mix of local dishes and tourist friendly options. The omelet station did not disappoint, even after three days. Ibrahim and Mohamed were there every single morning to assist us and bring us new things to try and run to get us coffee, espresso and teas. They greeted us the second morning by name, after just one visit. Their service, smiles and friendliness made us feel so at home and taken care of. If you see them, definitely say hello and don’t be afraid to ask them for help. We denied housekeeping the first full day as we had some work to catchup on and needed to do laundry (which was free at the hotel! Such a great touch!). The second day, after a long tour to Chefchaouen, we returned to find housekeeping had spread rose petals around the room and refreshed our supply of fresh baked sweets, in addition to making the room feel brand new again. Such an amazing staff! Finally, Nada at the front desk assisted us in a late checkout as we had a late ferry to catch and just wanted a couple extra hours to relax after a busy morning. All in all, one of THE BEST Hilton Garden Inn’s I have ever been to and I’ve been staying at the Hilton Brand for almost ten years across five different continents.

Pros: The room is nice. Location is very close to the beach and the train station. Cons: -Self-service laundry: I booked this hotel because I wanted to do my laundry in the middle of a long trip. I contacted the front desk the day before my arrival to confirm they had self-service laundry and they said yes, it's on the third floor. When I arrived the following day, it was out of order. Upon checking the recent Google reviews more closely, I see that it's been out of order for awhile. I wish the front desk would have been honest! -Smoking Floor: I was assigned a room on the 7th floor, which apparently is a smoking floor. It was really disappointing to smell weed and cigarettes everytime I went into the hallway. -Sea View: I paid extra for a room with a sea view. I was given a room with no sea view, unless you are standing at the window and turn all the way to the side. When I talked to the front desk, she told me that it does have a sea view (*gaslighting). When I showed her the pictures, she said that they would refund the extra cost and give me a new room the next day. Neither of which occurred. Update 7/17/25: I had made the reservation through a third party, so I had to contact them for the partial refund. When they contacted the hotel, the staff REFUSED to give the refund they said they would issue.

Another Pleasant Stay at Hilton Garden Inn Tanger This marks my 8th stay at the hotel, and the consistent service has kept me coming back. 💠 As always, the reception, led by the courteous and welcoming "Asmae," ensured a swift and efficient check-in process. 💠 The King room with a sea view was not only aesthetically pleasing but also well-maintained. 💠 The breakfast offered a diverse buffet, ranging from local specialties to pastries, cheeses, meats, fruits, and salads, and my personal favorite the omelette station. Special thanks for servers Ibrahim, Oussama, and Nizal for theirs assistance and smiles. 🗳️. However, a few suggestions for improvement on my future visits: ⚠️ The pillows are too soft, leading to neck discomfort. A review of their consistency is recommended. ⚠️ The 33cc water bottles are insufficient for a single person. Consider providing larger bottles, such as 1.5 or 2 liters, especially for double occupancy, considering the daily water intake needs. ⚠️ Adding a deodorizer in the bathrooms would enhance the overall experience. 🙏 Looking forward to continued positive experiences at Hilton Garden Inn Tanger.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not What You Expect from a Hilton

We had a terrible experience at Hilton Garden Inn Tangier and would not recommend it to anyone expecting even basic Hilton standards.

We booked through Booking.com and specifically selected a reservation for three people, which increased the price. Yet, at check-in, we were told the booking was only for two people and had to pay an additional ~$100 for a third person — even though we had already paid more upfront for a party of three. Frustrating and dishonest.

Then we got to the room… only to find one king-size bed. Apparently, the staff thought it was normal for three people — including our almost 18-year-old daughter — to sleep together in one bed. We tried calling the front desk, but the room phone didn’t work. My husband had to go down in person and explain that this was unacceptable. The original booking was for a family room, but the room we got was small and clearly not what we paid for. After several reminders, they finally brought in a small cot. Next we learned that we were placed on the smoking floor. The smell of cigarettes was horrible. No one asked us if we mind or not to be in such a room.

As if that wasn’t enough, the AC in the room didn’t function properly. It would randomly turn off and during the night, and we woke up in the morning sweating in a hot room. Definitely not what you expect after paying this much for a room at a Hilton.

Breakfast looked impressive at first glance, but almost everything that should have been hot was cold — eggs, sausages, potatoes, pancakes, waffles. And the cold items, like yogurt, were warm, as if they had been sitting out for hours.

We also brought laundry to the self-service laundry room, only to find a sign taped to the door saying “Out of order.” No advance notice, no help offered. When I asked a staff member when they expected it to be fixed she was clueless and said „maybe tomorrow”.

To top it all off, the front desk staff was cold, unhelpful, and generally unfriendly. There was no hospitality, no sense of accountability, and certainly no Hilton-level service.

As a long-time Hilton Honors member who stays at Hilton properties around the world, I can honestly say this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with the brand. Hilton should seriously reevaluate this property.

Do yourself a favor and stay...

I will begin with the pros :

Very comfortable bed, spacious room, excellent location (next to the main mall, and a few minutes walking distance to the beach). Excellent cleaning service, the cleaning lady was very nice and welcoming. We asked her for 2 extra bottles of water on the first and second day, she started giving us 2 extra ones almost every day without us seeing her or asking. Very good service - the rooms were always cleaned with no issues. The staff decorated the room with flowers for our honeymoon which was very lovely. Upon arriving, however, we were meant to be put in a sea-view room but were put in a city-view - but the staff quickly moved us to a sea-view by the next day. This was not that big of an issue.

Cons:

The main issue I had is that me and my wife were constantly bothered 3 days in a row when we came back into the hotel from going out, we kept being stopped by the front staff and asked what room we were in and I felt that the staff thought I was bringing in a girl from outside - this bothered me a lot. By the third day, I did get upset and asked the staff if they were going to be asking me every single day - I did not like this. I do not want to be checked every time I go in and out of the hotel, this is not proper and very annoying - nowhere do they do this. I felt the staff realized I was frustrated by my tone and they did not bother us again so that was good.

The wifi wasn't the greatest and went off every time I put my phone down I had to sign back in, but in the last few days (we were there for 8 nights) it became stable and I did not need to log in back into it.

Still - it is a very good hotel, I would have rated it a 5 had they not kept bothering us about coming back into the hotel - she is my wife, both of our names are on the booking - it really really bothered me a lot. But I will not give 1 or 2 stars because of this mishap - I do still recommend this hotel because it is a good hotel, it was clean and comfortable with an excellent location - what more could...

A nice clean comfortable Hilton branded hotel in the heart on Tangiers. It’s location is very convenient as the new high speed train (TGV) Station has just opened (Nov’18) and it’s a short walk of about 5 to 8 minutes from the hotel. So you can now get the bullet train from Tangiers to Casablanca and be there in around 2 hours which is half the old 4 hours commute time by car. It will be good for business travelers who fly in to Casablanca but who need to also come to Tangiers. You obviously have more connecting flight choices out of Casablanca than you do the local Tangiers Airport. Hotel staff friendly, attentive and helpful. But remember where you are and respect the culture. Hotel rooms have ironing board (mine was missing the iron this time) kettle and basic amenities to make coffee or tea. There is a unstocked minibar fridge as well as a lockable safe in each room. There is a shopping mall right next door about a 2 minute walk so you can buy some groceries snacks sodas extra water etc. there to stock the room fridge. There are two complimentary bottles of water on arrival that is not restocked after the first day. Bathroom, shower and toilet clean, tidy and reasonably modern. An ocean view room is worth the extra investment per night if that’s important to you. A very generous serving of foods and choices st breakfast. One of the better ones I have had. A on duty chef will cook you a fresh omelette and you can make fresh waffles too. Good choice of fruits, yogurts, breads, and most importantly, coffee. The hotel is right across from the beach and the new pier that’s been built and there lots of local restaurants close by. There is also a small food court in the shopping mall next door. There money changers next door if you need to convert some currency and ATM’s close by. For fast food junkies and go keep the kids happy, there’s a...
