Can’t fault the service but you have to feel sorry for the staff managing such an underwhelming hotel. After using other Movenpick hotels this was a serious let down. It looked so different from the websites pictures (which we later discovered were mostly cgi) that we had to check we were at the right place.
Everything is tired, old and worn out. Flickering lights at reception, cracked tiles in bathrooms, loose / faulty sockets, the list goes on. The reception counter is cracked and had fingerprint marks all over it when we checked in. The decor is outdated throughout - all brown on grey, “Chinese prison” vibes. If depression stayed in a hotel, it would be this one. We arrived late so were given what was clearly one of the “leftover” older rooms on the second floor with the promise of a switch the next day (the proactivity was appreciated - clearly there have been complaints about that room in the past). The carpet had marks all over it, the fridge wasn’t working (faulty socket), the toilet seat had weird black scratch marks on it, there was a piece of tissue paper left stuffed in the keyhole of the door. It was just odd.
General comments: The WiFi is weak and virtually unusable on the rooftop. The food is average at best. Sushi is being advertised everywhere yet it’s not on the menu. In fact, there’s an entire restaurant advertised that doesn’t exist along with the live wood fired kitchen on the roof. The pool on the rooftop is very small and packed full of dining furniture (even though we have seen no more than three tables being used at a time during our stay). There are only six sun loungers which get occupied very early on in the day. Tiles on the pool sides are green. We had to ask for our room to be cleaned on day 3 and were not given teas/coffees and found that one of the cleaners used our battery bank and cable to change their AirPods which then they left in the room. For the price we paid and as it’s a five star hotel, we were expecting a glass of drink / pastries on arrival but nothing. Little things that showed that no thought went into the guest experience - no bin in female toilet next to the gym, towels not being topped up, the hairdryer holder in the bathroom stops you from using the small mirror as it’s in the way, the toiletries are bad quality (seems watered down, don’t smell nice, the pump is not working well on the containers) Toilet paper was cheap and bad quality. The gym has no music playing. Tv in the second room didn’t show any channels. Aircon shows E6 error every few hours and turns off.
Overall, we appreciated the helpfulness of the staff but there is only so much they can do when the hotel is just not up to...
Read moreThe front desk and arrival staff were so great! Helped with bags, showed us to our room, gave a brief overview of the hotel services. And set up a reliable pick up service to take us to airport in the morning. The beds were comfortable. And that's where the 5 stars end. The room was blah, needed painting, very sparse decor, and not in a cool minimalist/modern way. I had to move the nightstand to find the electrical outlet behind it. The shower sprayed all over the floor and had to be mopped up with two towels. The body wash was empty in the shower. The halls and carpet and wall paint were dingy. The rooftop dining service was so slooooooowwww! We had to approach the bar to ask for service after waiting for about 5 mins. The waitress was really kind and spoke great English, which was helpful to us as our French or Darija is zero! We were the ONLY guests up there and there were about 5 staff members walking around that never approached us. When the "croque monsieur" arrived after 20-30 mins, it was a cold ham sandwich with gouda cheese on stale bread. Gross. The spa was closed with no explanation. We chose this hotel so we could basically stay in house for the afternoon, eating a snack and dinner and getting a massage before our long flight home. Needless to say, we did not go back up for dinner after the disappointing snack. My travel partner left her earbuds in the room and is trying to get them shipped to her but has not yet received confirmation that the hotel will send them. When initially called about the earbuds, they said call back the next day because they were not sure if they could do that. This is not five star hotel service. All in all, the room was $112 compared to the Ritz and Four Seasons at $350. So you get what you pay for. But stating they are a five star hotel is false advertising. Oh and it said it was conveniently located close to the Voyaguers train station and the airport. I should have checked maps. It is actually closer to the Oasis train station so we should have gotten off there and saved 30 minutes and $10 on cab fare. Also, over 30 mins to airport in traffic. Not conveniently located...
Read moreOne of the worst services I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’m sorry for such long review, but this is just unacceptable for 5 star hotel! My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights in the hotel. It’s not 5 start hotel!!!!! On the first day, on the rooftop, we were waiting to get menu for 10 min, then 20 min to get our order. I’m all fine with waiting for food for 20-30 min if it what it takes but this is just poor service. When I ordered my drink, I asked not to put ANY lemons and of course my drink was full with lemons….. The next day, we were relaxing by the pool. It felt like we were at self-service bar. Every time we had to order drinks, we had to go to the bar. Staff was not paying attention to us. We have asked them if we have to order drinks at the bar, the staff said that they will bring it. Guess what - no one was paying attention when we were waving at them. We asked for food menu 5 times!!!! They brought menu only when my boyfriend went to the bar and confronted them about it. One of the person next to us stated that he will leave the hotel tomorrow because of the poor service. In regards to the room…. No power socket in the bathroom. The one next to the big mirror didn’t work. We were living in 14 floor, above us were conference rooms. It felt like there was a bowling hall in there, as at 11 pm and 7 am the sound was terrible and loud. Very noisy! Shower head was broken. Water in sink spit yellow water at first. And the Wi-Fi on the rooftop… don’t get me started. On the good side - bed is very comfortable! And staff downstairs was very nice and professional! Final notice - to get to the beach, it takes around 1 hour walk on foot or 15 min by taxi. I hate the “friendly” reply of owners to such reviews stating that they will improve the service. Multiple times we have confronted staff and nothing changed. Don’t bother to reply to...
