Americans and English speakers looking for hotels in Tangier - this review is for you. Lalla Soulika is absolutely wonderful! It is pricey (our room was 360€/night) but if that is in your budget you should absolutely stay here.
When I was planning I came across Lalla Soulika on Booking.com and it looked much more elegant and upscale than anything else in Tangier. However, I started to be worried it might be a scam because the hotel required me to wire them money prior to the stay and the bank details they gave me didn’t work with my major American bank. They then gave me a second IBAN for the wire and that one came back as usable but not standard looking so my bank advised me against sending through the wire in case it was a scam. I did a deep dive online and started to become concerned because there weren’t a lot of reviews and their Instagram account had very little engagement. I even called the concierge at the Fairmont Taizi Palace to ask if they knew the hotel in hopes that they could confirm for me that it was real but they were not familiar with it. I decided not to pay upfront and to risk that the room wouldn’t be held. I figured I would show up and if it was real great and if it was a scam I had made a backup reservation somewhere else I would go to.
This hotel is absolutely real and not a scam. The hotel only opened last year which explains why they don’t have as many reviews as the other hotels in the area. Their staff are wonderful and work hard but they have essentially 5 primary staff and a remote person doing billing so I think that’s why I wasn’t getting perfect clarification on billing; this is a small operation. Having now stayed there I would feel absolutely comfortable wiring them the money up front. I was appreciative that they take credit card at the hotel to pay for the stay.
Now onto the hotel itself. It is without question the nicest hotel I stayed in during my trip to Morocco. I absolutely loved the design of the hotel which featured many beautiful Moroccan handmade items with the traditionally bold patterns and colors. I’d love to hire their designer to do my home in the US.
The butler and staff were wonderful and answered all of our questions throughout our stay.
The only thing I recommend not doing that they offer is they offer to have their hotel driver bring you on a tour or bring you to Cap Spartel. I would highly recommend booking your own separate tour because the driver is nice but he doesn’t speak any English or French and even if you speak Arabic or Spanish he’s not a tour guide so you are essentially being driven around to see things but without getting any info about what...

I had booked a two-bedroom suite for myself and two friends, and while the manager confirmed the availability, we were surprised upon arrival to find the second room under remodeling. Even more disappointing, the suite’s access requires climbing over 8 flights of stairs, with an elevator installation that, according to locals, has been ongoing for over four months — still incomplete during our stay.
We were eventually split into two separate rooms on different floors, which defeated the purpose of booking a suite. The shared terrace we were looking forward to enjoying was a full-on construction site, with workers occasionally passing through what was meant to be our private space. Every morning, I was woken by noise from people accessing the public rooftop, and despite being in a suite with two closed doors, guests repeatedly tried to open mine, making it feel far from private or secure.
The furniture was uncomfortable, the water pressure was poor, and the overall design was disappointing — it looked nothing like the photos. Sadly, this stay was not worth repeating. The only redeeming factor was the kindness and professionalism of the reception and support staff, who did their best despite the...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lalla Soulika, a charming boutique hotel in the old town. The hotel features 8 spacious rooms, a nice garden, a beautiful rooftop overlooking the city, and a cozy lobby, all showing authentic Moroccan charm.
Our room was filled with natural light and decorated in traditional Moroccan style. It included a small entrance, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a large, lovely living room with a balcony.
The breakfast was delightful, with the option to choose where to enjoy it.
The staff were exceptionally amazing. Special thanks to Madam Hasna, who went above and beyond to assist us with transportation, reservations, and recommendations. She was caring, regularly checked on us, and made us feel at home.
Highly recommended for an authentic and cozy experience in the heart of...
