I cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and its staff.
The food: We ordered 2x tea, a meat + vegetable tagine, pumpkin appetizer, hrira soup. The tea was very nice. Our appetizers came with olives and the hrira with dates & an egg. The pumpkin appetizer was served cold — my partner prefers it cold, and I prefer it warm. Either way: it was very tasty and had a wonderful flavor & texture. Hrira soup was very well made. The tagine was flavorful — as usual, for me the best part in a tagine is usually the vegetables and these were cooked very well.
The staff: This is where this place shines. They were attentive during our meal and friendly. But, they also went above and beyond. Earlier in the day, we were on a long hike up through the mountains. My partner injured her ankle, but it was fine to continue down the mountain. Several hours later, after we had arrived at the restaurant… it started to hurt. A lot. It was swelling a lot. It was also late at night, and no nearby pharmacy was open. We asked the staff if they were aware of any nearby pharmacy. One of the staff members is a doctor. She sprang into action: she immediately created an ice pack compress and applied pressure. She made a few calls, and next thing we knew a man had delivered an ankle wrap gauze and some alcohol spray. The swelling was brought down significantly and she made a splint. My partner could walk again, without pain.
I left this restaurant so grateful I could cry. I wanted to hug the staff. I’ll be back,...
Read moreMake sure the food served is what you ordered before eating. We made the mistake of not doing so and had to pay for what we didn't order.
Among other things, we ordered grilled swordfish. After a long wait, the attractive looking dish was served but the fillet was way too undercooked (didn't take a photo). The wait staff took the dish back to cook again and retuned with it after a while. Much better this time but still a little undercooked (see photo). We were assured that it was best to be eaten like that so we did.
All was good until the bill showed that it wasn't grilled swordfish that we ate but grilled salmon fillet with vegetables instead! Not only did we not order the latter, it was also the most expensive item on the menu. Despite our protests, and the server who took the order testified that it was swordfish that we ordered, we couldn't change the fact that we didn't reject the dish and the food was already in our stomach.
No apologies in any forms and the tall muscular handsome guy even mocked us that we couldn't tell the difference between a salmon fillet and a swordfish. He asked whether we knew how a swordfish looked like? As if they would serve the whole swordfish with the 'sword' for that price. I'm not even sure whether he was being apologetic, insulting or sarcastic when he said if we had no money we didn't need to pay.
Anyway we PAID for what we ate and will...
