We arrived at near 2pm, but the room was not cleaned, despite having a stated 1200 pm check in time. The clerk allowed us to put the bags in the room, and he informed me that the maid would clean later. I looked at the unmade bed and had a sixth sense. On the inside of two pillowcases, I wrote my initials. Less than 1/8 the size of my thumbnail.||||We returned to the room at 9pm and noted the room had been cleaned. I went to the bedroom and inspected the pillow cases. My initials were still there. In other words, the bed had never been changed. These were the dirty sheets from the previous guest. ||||I found Yousef, the night clerk and shared with him the situation. ||||R: "Hi, the sheets were not changed, they are dirty"||Y: "Show me"||I show him the pillow cases and my initials.||Y: "You wrote this! Why did you do this?"||I explained to him, I had a feeling that the bed was not going to be changed.||Y: "So what do you want?"||R "It would be great to have clean sheets"||Y "Why didnt you just say so"||||In short, I had envisioned that the staff would be embarrassed and ashamed. I was quite wrong. He was not concerned that the room was dirty, his main concern that my initials had been written on the pillowcase. In fact, Yousef was aggressive and rude. ||||Y "Clean these initials off, I will get new sheets" I began to wash the pillow cases in the sink.||||Yousef comes back to the room after several minutes, clutching some new sheets.||||Y "Why did you write your name?"||I explained to him my sixth sense.||Y "Well, you should have made sure they were cleaned"||R "How could I do that?"||Y "The maid only takes 15 minutes to clean the room"||R "I dont understand"||||Yousef then explains, I should have stayed in the room, and watched the maid to make sure she did her job. I then explained it is not my job to supervise the maid.||||Y "You are a very untrustworthy man, come here to test the sheets" Again, he gets very aggressive. ||R "No that is OK, I trust you", I state as I sit on the couch.||He then taunts me five or so times, to touch and smell the sheets to ensure they are clean, I decline each time. ||He taunts me again, and I concede. I come over to him, touch the sheets, and thank him. This all done in a raised voice with an aggressive condescending tone. ||||He doesnt make the bed, he hands me the the sheets. He wants me to make the bed. He only provides one sheet and one pillow case. The bed has two sheets and two pillowcases that need to be changed. And there are two beds in the room. ||||We lock the door, and slide some bags in front of the door. We wake up the next day, look into the lobby to make sure Yousef is not there. We leave and do not return until the end of the day, when a different clerk is there. ||||I travel quite a lot and was shocked by his actions, making me feel insecure and uncomfortable. ||||**||||Besides the threatening actions... some other issues that would make this a subpar stay.||||Despite staying there two nights, the sheets were never changed.||The temperature in the room was 16 C at night.||The shower provided a timed two minute and thirty seconds of hot water and then it turned ice cold. This was timed for three showers. This is for a hotel room that is an apartment, that sleeps 4...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE!! BEDBUGS BEDBUGS BEDBUGS! We stayed here for two nights and after the first night noticed hundreds of bites up and down my arms, legs, and back and another few dozen on my girlfriend. We immediately told them once we returned to the hotel and the receptionist Muhammad (who was the only helpful person) moved us to a different room. We were being optimistic and naive and hoped the problem would be finished. The following morning, my girlfriend found a bug on her bed in the new room. I killed it and it was full of blood. Obviously a bedbug. After that I was upset. We went down to reception to ask about a refund. The owner (a blonde woman who is the worst I have ever encountered) never did anything, to the contrary, she was very aggressive. She refused to refund our money and told us to contact the company we made the booking through, despite paying in cash. She never even looked at me. She doesn't speak English and had Muhammad translate but smiling and saying sorry would have been simple. She made the situation much worse, while Muhammad continued to apologize. The bedbugs were the worst issue, but we were upset with the hotel before any of that happened. The water doesn't get hot, the wifi doesn't reach the rooms, and the rooms and hotel are visibly dirty. We noticed hairs all over the beds and the blanket smelled like body odor. There is also the complaint others have had about the shower being above the toilet with no curtain. We should have left the second we got here but gave them the benefit of the doubt. The only thing that is nice about this hotel is that it has a pretty rooftop and the building is decorated well. But that is true of many places. Chefchaouen is beautiful and there are many other options. Stay somewhere...
Read moreWhile visiting Morocco I stayed in Tanger for 24hrs to see the blue city. I basically only needed a place to freshen up & store my luggage. This place seemed reasonably priced & local so I booked. For some reason in morocco elevators are not a thing so be prepared to walk up many steps. This hotel was no different but my concern was that again, I had luggage. Thankfully the front desk men carried mine & my friends luggage up for us.
While the outside is beautiful & quaint, the rooms are tiny. I booked a double bed for another person. Again, I could ignore the room size because I had no intentions of sleeping there but the bathroom was not up to par. The toilet is directly infront of the shower so the entire floor was wet because it had no separation whatsoever. Because my friend & I was so disgusted by that, we didn’t even attempt to sleep there after returning from the blue city. We gathered our belongings & checked out the same night. So overall the place & service is decent but I would not recommend for a long stay if you aren’t prepared for a very primitive loving...
