I’m not usually one to leave a review for places but my experience here at this store was truely such an amazing experience. I tried going rug shopping in Fez and Marrakesh earlier with the intention of taking some home but constantly felt pressured and left feeling uncomfortable. When I thought I was going home without a rug I decided as a last resort to pop into Dar Chefchaouen expecting the same but my experience was completely the opposite. They were so casual yet informative when asked and were happy to show every rug I pointed up (there was many) before I found the ones I liked. I cannot express to people enough that after everywhere I have tried to purchase rugs in Morocco, this is the only place I would truely recommend. Their patience and hospitality towards me was incredibly kind and I hope one day to come back and purchase more!!! They took so much time rolling it up to fit in my bag perfectly also (it was seemingly an impossible task). The photos I took aren’t the best as I forgot to take them until they were rolling it up but they truely are stunning rugs and I cannot wait to have them in my home. Do yourself a favour and at the very least have a look in this store, it will be impossible to leave...
Read moreWe had such a memorable time visiting Baba in his shop. We'd been traipsing around Chefchaouen for a few days, casually poking into rug shops, but either feeling too pressured (despite vendors telling us they weren't pressuring us) and just not finding the level of craftsmanship and quality of materials we were looking for. Walking into Dar Chefchaouen was a breath of fresh air. We ended up sitting and chatting, drinking tea, considering rugs, learning about different histories and customs, and hearing Baba's stories, for almost two hours. (And yes, we walked out with 3 rugs of different sizes and and at different price points.)
There's really no reason to go anywhere else if you're looking for a rug, unless you just want to know how much better your experience will be at Dar...

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Our tour guide, Abdeslam, brought us to Dar Chefchaouen to view some authentic, hand made rugs. We are forever grateful he did. It is a family business, now run by the brothers, Baba and Baba. They were extremely helpful and patient in showing us many beautiful rugs without any pressure to buy a thing. Our family will cherish this memento for generations as a symbol of the beauty of Morocco and the hospitality...
