Restaurant Jbaria — Restaurant in Chefchaouen

We found the restaurant thru google maps and their good google rating. The food was good, not great, service was friendly.

First we got 2 appetizers on the house. A nice gesture. The green one we didn’t like, the other one was ok. We ordered 2 dishes to share, one the lamb tajine special of the day, cause two people sitting there had it and recommended it. It was good quality, but nothing special, we had better in Marocco. The rice on the side was overcooked and bland. Second a chicken pastilla, beautiful dish, very well presented, but lasted quite long before we got it and it was a bit cold on the inside 🫣 the flavor was nice, but I had better too.

Normally, when someone tries to attract you to their restaurant, I decline, I hate that. So at first we declined, but later on we discovered he was from the restaurant we were searching for 🤣

We had a delicious Moroccan meal here. One of the best parts is the setting! if you go all the way to the rooftop, you’ll get views of the city and a lusciously designed dining room with little alcoves and tables.

Kind staff, cash only, they have wifi but couldn’t get it to work

Bread w semolina comes with your meal as did three small house apps (rice, eggplant, peppers). They were delicious!

Cheese salad- was ok, it’s a lettuce salad w plops of goat cheese. You dress it w olive oil and citrus on the table. Goat cheese is super mild.

Morrocan soup: so good!

Chicken couscous: beautiful couscous, dry chicken breast AMAZING steamed veg and carmilized cinnamon onions

Meat Tagine: do not miss the house specialty! Beef so...

Just had an amazing lunch here and every item on the menu was out of this world. Our server, Brother Mustafa made such a warm and welcoming host. I ordered the vegeterian tajin and I wiped the dish clean (very unusual for me otherwise). My husband ordered mix skewers and harish soup. We also got the avocado- tangerine smoothie (100 stars) and the lemonade. Their bread and olives were ooo la la. You must try this place! I don’t usually take many pics but I had to capture these!

I forgot to mention something super important to me. Cleanliness! This place has my heart for their clean kitchen (I went to thank the chef), dining area, foyer, and bathroom. Will come back if I ever get the opportunity to visit...
