booked as a package holiday through easy jet as one of the cheapest options - initially wary of being scammed as pictures looked too good to be true however can confirm it most definitely is not!! for a three star hotel you defo get your moneys worth.
rooms: rooms are beautiful and spacious enough, incredibly clean with cleaners able to come in every day to change bedding, replace toiletries & towels etc. tea provided in the room and complimentary 330ml waters each. items also in the fridge in the room for an additional cost (we found it cheaper to cross the road behind the hotel, water there is 6dh a big bottle which is 1/6th of the price charged in the restaurant - they did not seem to mind us taking our own bottles in). cleaners are so lovely and always happy to help. our 3rd floor rooms had a nice view of the train station and roundabout. although getting very busy at night, the double balcony doors did very well in keeping noise out. air con adjustable and rooms stayed nice and cool.
food: breakfast 6:30-10:30 breakfast was definitely the highlight with a wide selection (hot foods, cereal, bread, pastries, fruit, fresh juices, tea). they cook mini pancakes & paratas in front of you and omelettes can be made to taste aswell. do not need to bring anything with you.
dinner 7:30-10:30 dinner was hit and miss for us, the flavours weren’t something our palate was used to and our family usually consumed spicier food but Moroccan cuisine as a whole tends to be sweet. smaller selection available at dinner, good in the sense you’re forced to try new things. always a soup and bread available which were always yummy along with the salad bar. couldn’t fault the desserts, majority were very nice. as mentioned, would recommend buying own water as they charge 35dh for a big bottle and also 35dh for fizzy drinks (cans).
facilities: pool open 9-7 although no one gets in before 11/12 as people are still eating breakfast by the pool so just a bit awkward. toilets everywhere were clean. free luggage room available on request. massage, beauty treatments & hammam available in very comfortable facilities on the first floor of the opera plaza. had an exfoliation done which was thorough to say the least, slippy so make sure you wear flip flops and a bikini as they make you strip bare. massage was okay, definitely had better.
side notes: lack of easy communication for English speakers (as could be expected from a non- English speaking country) so difficult on occasion on arrival made to fill out forms concerning each adult member staying. slightly tedious after a long flight with unnecessary information required - never had to do this elsewhere. security guards always at door, lovely people and very helpful do not ask reception / security to call you a taxi, they will call their own contact and then charge you extra as a result. a taxi into town in a 6/7 seater should cost no more than 70/80dh, just wait outside the hotel on the main road and flag one down. the desk to exchange money at the hotel was closed the entire time however there is a currency exchange place inside the train station (in through the side entrance, then to the right) with good rates.
complaint: they charge 500dh for late checkout but they do not know if they have availability until the morning which makes no sense. they claim they are fully booked up but we never saw that many people and since the red hotel is joined to the opera plaza hotel, you’re telling me not a single room was free? we only asked for an additional 4 hours and offered to pay but receptionist was less than helpful. main complaint simply being about the service from reception, namely just one receptionist who was sat at the desk for the entirety of our stay - rude majority of the time, poor communication and unwilling...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay at the Red Hotel when visiting marakesh. Rooms where good and breakfast was good. However the where some hidden fees. I was not made aware of any deposit needed to pay prior to booking. 2000MAD is a lot for someone who's just booked a holiday especially when trying to stick to a budget. I booked through love holidays which definitely stated there was nothing left to pay. Also the tax which I understand. The stay was pleasant. There was building work going on outside which didn't bother me as I was not in my room during the day. The location is very good. 10 minutes taxi ride to the airport and alot of stuff withing walking distance. Trains station across the road. Entrance was via opera Hotel.
The rooms. The shower was not in the greatest of shape. It sprayed water awkwardly and was either very hot or cold. It was hard to get the right temperature for me. The water pressure was great but the shower head had spoiled it. The bathroom I had was a good size. I felt the room was abit dusty and the floor hadn't been mopped and cleaned well enough before I got the room keys. The beds where clean and spotless. The minibar is quiet pricy. I recommend getting your own beverages from the shops near the hotel. They offer a laundry service which I didn't use. The hairdryer suddenly stopped working. However, I managed to get it to work again by taking the power card out and re powering the room.
These small issues did not ruin my holiday however. My refund was returned immediately at check out. I payed this deposit using my bank card and it was in my account within the hour of issuing the refund.
The staff were amazing, and the security is always helpful if needing a taxi, etc. I would recommend this hotel for convenience and more budget friendly option especially with the breakfast. Taxis are always nearby and you can always find a load of taxi drivers outside the train station or in its carpark. There's a few good food spots a short walk away. Menara mall is a easy 20-minute walk away. M-Avenue is a short walk away. Menara Gardens is close by too.
Overall, I recommend this hotel and would visit again. P.S majority of the staff have great language skills. English,...

Wifi basically does not even connect. Pool is falsely advertised with the ‘red hotel’ On arrival we asked for a pool view balcony room as when we went up we had balcony but it was facing the streets, when asking for a pool view room we were informed it wasn’t part of the ‘red hotel’ and actually owned by the one next door but we were allowed to use it.
Breakfast did not serve fresh orange juice instead just a sweet one mixed with water, had to pay extra for omelette even though breakfast was paid for already. Not enough glasses for guests at breakfast time, would have to wait around and run to get a glass as many other guests were waiting.
The rooms did not have ac instead had warm air blowing out even with temperatures at 27-29 degrees outside. This made it very difficult to sleep during the night it would get very very hot in the rooms. Due to the difficulty sleeping for 3 nights in a row we ended up having to check out early and book into another hotel just to get a decent night sleep a decent breakfast and not to end the holiday miserably. Also not forgetting the other factor which was that we had come back from a mountain trek to the hotel in the evening to shower and the water was coming out cold for the second time we had to call the maintenance person upto fix it all he did was run the water for about 40 minutes come in and out and then just leave. I would not be able to recommend this hotel as there were not any pros. Even when we were checking out early the staff were not bothered the lady simply said ‘oh you’re checking out early? You’re meant to check out tomorrow’ and we responded with we were not happy at the hotel and the lady had no response no emotion nothing not even asking why or an apology, the worst customer service ever received in...
