As I wrote on my review through booking.com / great family homestay/ This is one of the many things that I do not regret doing. ||||What can I say? This family homestay was by far the best homestay I have stayed in, I was welcomed by Bina, her husband Piran and their children. As a solo female traveler finding a safe and decent place to stay in is important, not once did I feel out of place while staying here. This family is very respectful, caring and were willing to give out their limbs just to help with whatever it was that I needed. They helped me plan out day trips, get a SIM card, informed me about what buses to take to my destinations, and were always just a text away. What I love most is how genuine and good hearted people they are, nothing was ever forced, my initial plan was to stay with them for 5 days but I ended up staying for almost an entire month. One thing that won't disappoint is Binas cooking, Dal Bhat the right way! Breakfast is complimentary and very well made. The rooms are kept clean, restrooms are well maintained and they offer you their washing machine incase you have clothes that need washing. This family homestay is no more than a 15 minute walk into Thamel, and other attractions . With an open mind and willingness to explore Nepali culture this is the place to acquire new experiences. With the same respect and amount of love that this family has shown me I too return that by giving them recognition through...
Read moreHello,||||This is the place to be if you want to live the authentic local Nepali life. If you come with an open mindset, and if you are ready to get to know more about Nepali culture and lifestyle, your stay will be memorable. You will share traditional Nepali meals with the family, possibly even eating it with your hands (Nepali style!). But don't worry, Bine (or Didi, the big sister) will gracefully provide a spoon or fork if you still prefer eating more comfortably. Puran, the Daï of the house (big brother in Nepali, although it depends of your age as a guest, if you're older than him, he would be Baï) speaks fluently English and French. He can really feel his guests. He seems to know exactly what you need without even asking. If you desire more privacy or liberty, he will totally respect it. On the other hand, if you need some help or information about Nepal, with his great attentiveness, he will always be ready to hear you and will do his best to fulfill your wishes. He finds the right balance which makes him a perfect host. Moreover, he has extensive knowledge of trekking trails across the country and will be very happy to share it with you. If you wish to learn Nepali, he will make time for you every evening to gradually teach you this sacred speech. The babu's (little brothers) are lovely. They speak very well English and are eager to share their achievements at school with you. The bedroom is very clean, comfortable and quiet. There is also a rooftop with a panoramic view of the surroundings. As for the localisation in Nayabazaar neighbourhood, it is just perfect, close to the city center, the touristic Thamel area, the river and the iconic Swayambunath temple (which you can easily see from the rooftop) but still quiet and with local vibes around.||||I highly recommend it!||||Ken Geerinck||25 August 2018 - 24 September 2018||Stay with Puran in Kathmandu for medical internship||||||Bonjour,||||Si vous voulez vivre la vie authentique Népalaise, c'est l'endroit idéal.
Read morePuran hosted my girlfriend and I for a week. For that time, we felt as though we were truly part of his family. It was a refreshing, accessible introduction to life in Kathmandu -- Puran is a tour guide and is overflowing with recommendations about what to do and which sites you have to see (in his words: not visiting Swayambhunath when you're in Kathmandu is like masala without sugar!). There's plenty to do around the house, too; we were invited to participate in a Hindu cleansing ceremony, walked with the family to get dinner with their in-laws, and enjoyed heaping portions of Bina's excellent cooking. ||||That said -- this is a budget accommodation, so the room is pretty basic -- essentially just a bed and nighstand in a room, no fan, not much space. The bathroom is shared with several people and had a chronically damp floor; not sure what that was about. I ultimately just wore shoes, which worked fine, but these are things to be aware of -- this is a real-feeling Nepali homestay, living Nepali style, and not everything feels like the West. That said, I can't recommend this homestay highly enough for anyone looking for an intimate introduction to everyday...
