What an incredible experience with Nepal Hiking Team! My boyfriend and I just completed the Classic Annapurna Circuit trek and we had an absolutely amazing time. Our group of five were very well taken care of by a team of five: lead guide Bhisma, assistant guide Rajesh and porters Raj, Ellis and Sanjay. While everyone in the team was professional, kind, friendly, always ready to help and always in good spirits, Bhisma in particular stood out and made our trek truly memorable. He was a wealth of knowledge, which he was happy to share. Furthermore, he has an excellent command of the English language, much more so than expected, which made chatting with him easy and enjoyable. Throughout the trek, we could feel his genuine warmth and care for each of us and dedication to ensuring that we had a great time. But beyond being good at his job, he was a pleasure to be around.
The guesthouses we stayed at, for the most part, were better equipped than we expected. We always had en-suite bathrooms, although not always with hot showers or even showers or even sinks. But at least, even on the coldest night at the highest elevation (Thorong Base Camp), we didnât have to venture outside for a toilet. That was also the only night without any shower, which is to be expected. Otherwise we had access to solar or gas showers at each guesthouse, a very pleasant surprise. The food throughout the trek was also much better than expected - we were happily surprised that we could order a la carte for each meal and it was easy to add on extras to our own bill when desired. We were truly impressed by the fresh fruit plates they prepared for us each evening after dinner. They carried quite a number of watermelons and pomegranates and apples with them from the lowlands and we saw many other trekkers eyeing our fruit plates with envy each night! Tip: bring loose tea/tea bags with you so that you can just order a large thermos of hot water each evening to make your own tea.
The trek was well paced and the guides adapted to our individual needs and speeds. Bhisma was very flexible with adjusting meal and additional excursion timings based on our preferences. We also changed our itinerary a bit during the last few days, based on his suggestions, which made much more sense for us as we werenât too keen to walk very long stretches on the main road.
Communication and overall organization of our trip has been great. From the first emails with owner Ganga to enquire about the trip to the final drop off at the airport, itâs been a smooth and seamless experience. Overall we feel that itâs been great value for money for the level of service weâve gotten. We wound up extending this 18 day trip into a 22 day trip by adding two extra nights each in Kathmandu and Pokhara, along with a flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu, all of which he arranged and booked for us. We can tell heâs clearly very busy juggling a lot of different trips going out each day but still takes the time to meet with his clients in person before and after the trip.
We will happily and wholeheartedly recommend Nepal Hiking Team to our friends and colleagues and would definitely return to Nepal to trek with this...
Read moreAnnapurna Base Camp--Made amazing by Nepal Hiking Team Review of Nepal Hiking Team Pending review This is actually the first time i have ever written any kind of review online about any service or product, and it is because of my 100% positive experience that i feel compelled to write this glowing review of Ganga, my guide Ram, my porter Pim, and the entire Nepal Hiking Team.
I was very nervous about this trek and had a lot of logistics to sort out, alot of questions to ask, and had to change itineraries more than once. During that entire process, Ganga was patient, professional and kind, and he always answered questions promptly. My trekking partner had to unfortunately drop out a week before the trip, and I ended up solo, but became instant friends with the folks at NHT and immensely enjoyed the good natured company of Ram and Pim.
I had been warned that when in Nepal, expect things to not go as planned, but that was not the case with NHT. As soon as I got off the plane, Ganga was waiting for me with a great smile on his face and a hearty welcome. He arranged all of the transportation, hotels, and permits, and everything was first class and went smoothly without any delay or hitches. At the end of the trek, he made a wonderful presentation to me with a certificate, a Nepali ascot with the NHT logo, and really made me feel like I had accomplished something amazing. Never once did i feel like I was just another trekker in an assembly line. His kindness and attention to detail made this a trip of a lifetime.
On the trek itself, my guide Ram was fantastic. He immediately became attuned to my pace, which we kept the entire trek. He was patient during my obsessive need to take photos every few minutes, and gave me a lot of options about where we would stay each night. He even carried my guitar for me :) His English was great and I enjoyed our conversations on the trail. At the teahouses each night, it was apparent how all of the lodge owners knew and respected him and NHT, and we got first class treatment. I have some dietary restrictions, and he made sure that they were met 3 meals a day. He even indulged me by agreeing to climb from MBC to ABC 2 days in a row because the weather improved the second day making for better photos.
Likewise, the porter Pim was patient (I definitely overpacked and he hauled my pretty huge duffel bag) without any complaints, kind and good-humored.
On a few occasions, during meals at the Tea Lodges, I would meet other trekkers and hear stories from them about bad decisions or bad experiences with their guides and trekking companies (Not NHT), but I could only say positive things about Ram and NHT) and felt SO fortunate to have chosen them.
In conclusion, I had the trip of a lifetime, and most of that was because I chose Nepal Hiking Team. I give them a 100 out of 100, and I plan to use them again when I return to do EBC someday with my family (and would love to have Ram and Pim again). Ganga is a true gentleman and a great trekking organizer. Thanks, NHT, for...
Read moreThereâs a reason youâll see nothing but five star reviews for this company, and itâs because they are the BEST company in the world!
I had SO many questions about the trek for weeks before the trip. I emailed Ganga frequently with them. He was so kind, helpful and incredibly responsive. I heard from him almost immediately after I sent my emails, and we are in totally different time zones (very impressive). His answers were thorough and reassuring.
When I first arrived in Kathmandu, our guide, Bhim, was right there to pick me up. He was extremely friendly and explained things well. The company driver (the best driver in crazy Kathmandu) took us to the hotel. The hotel, Apsara Boutique, is located in Thamel, and is quite lovely by the way.
We took the Kathmandu Valley tour - do NOT skip this; itâs amazing - the companyâs city tour guide, Kumar, was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a terrific sense of humor. We really enjoyed him, and on the tour, we learned so much about the history, lifestyle, and culture of the people in the area. It was truly fascinating.
When Ganga went over our agenda the morning after our tour, he was honest about the difficulty of getting a flight into Lukla due to monsoon season; however, he already had alternative plans squared away just in case.
Fortunately, on departure day, we flew out on our first attempt. Bhim took care of everything at the airport. The flight had beautiful views and it was quite an experience.
Throughout our trek, Bhim became more than our guide; he became a friend. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy and well and was fun to be around. I always felt like I was in good hands and in good company.
Unfortunately, I developed altitude sickness in Dingboche. We stayed an extra day to see if I improved, but sadly, I did not. Bhim made me feel safe and comforted while I was sick. He even moved to the room right next to mine so I could tap the wall if I needed him in the night.
I did need to take a helicopter out the next day. Ganga arranged and coordinated everything with my travelers insurance to make sure the $3500 bill was covered for me.
When I arrived at the hospital, Ganga was right there waiting. He explained what would happen at the hospital and again took care of communication with my travelers insurance. He stayed with me until I was taken to my room and even carried my bag to my room. I was treated extremely well at the hospital.
When I was released, Ganga met me at the hotel and coordinated my extra stay at Apsara. Ganga is probably the nicest man in the world!
I highly recommend Nepal Trekking Team. Theyâre affordable and will do everything possible to ensure that you are cared for. Even though I had to be evacuated on day 8, I donât regret one single second. Iâd do it all over in a heartbeat.
Thank you, Ganga and Bhim for being so incredible and offering such amazing service. You really felt like...
