Annapurna Base Camp--Made amazing by Nepal Hiking Team Review of Nepal Hiking Team Pending review This is actually the first time i have ever written any kind of review online about any service or product, and it is because of my 100% positive experience that i feel compelled to write this glowing review of Ganga, my guide Ram, my porter Pim, and the entire Nepal Hiking Team. I was very nervous about this trek and had a lot of logistics to sort out, alot of questions to ask, and had to change itineraries more than once. During that entire process, Ganga was patient, professional and kind, and he always answered questions promptly. My trekking partner had to unfortunately drop out a week before the trip, and I ended up solo, but became instant friends with the folks at NHT and immensely enjoyed the good natured company of Ram and Pim. I had been warned that when in Nepal, expect things to not go as planned, but that was not the case with NHT. As soon as I got off the plane, Ganga was waiting for me with a great smile on his face and a hearty welcome. He arranged all of the transportation, hotels, and permits, and everything was first class and went smoothly without any delay or hitches. At the end of the trek, he made a wonderful presentation to me with a certificate, a Nepali ascot with the NHT logo, and really made me feel like I had accomplished something amazing. Never once did i feel like I was just another trekker in an assembly line. His kindness and attention to detail made this a trip of a lifetime. On the trek itself, my guide Ram was fantastic. He immediately became attuned to my pace, which we kept the entire trek. He was patient during my obsessive need to take photos every few minutes, and gave me a lot of options about where we would stay each night. He even carried my guitar for me :) His English was great and I enjoyed our conversations on the trail. At the teahouses each night, it was apparent how all of the lodge owners knew and respected him and NHT, and we got first class treatment. I have some dietary restrictions, and he made sure that they were met 3 meals a day. He even indulged me by agreeing to climb from MBC to ABC 2 days in a row because the weather improved the second day making for better photos. Likewise, the porter Pim was patient (I definitely overpacked and he hauled my pretty huge duffel bag) without any complaints, kind and good-humored. On a few occasions, during meals at the Tea Lodges, I would meet other trekkers and hear stories from them about bad decisions or bad experiences with their guides and trekking companies (Not NHT), but I could only say positive things about Ram and NHT) and felt SO fortunate to have chosen them. In conclusion, I had the trip of a lifetime, and most of that was because I chose Nepal Hiking Team. I give them a 100 out of 100, and I plan to use them again when I return to do EBC someday with my family (and would love to have Ram and Pim again). Ganga is a true gentleman and a great trekking organizer. Thanks, NHT, for everything!!

I had a golden opportunity to trek the Gokyo lakes and Renjo La pass region in the Himalayas in Nepal along with my sister and brother in law during October 2023. For this trek we had booked through Nepal Hiking Team (NHT) and we were completely satisfied with our choice as we successfully completed the trek with their help.  Sri Ganga Ji the owner of NHT was very professional. Before the trek he was available for answering our queries through whatsapp and in fact I even had a call session to get all my queries related to the trek answered. Ganga Ji was very patient and answered all my queries regarding preparation for the trek, payments, insurance ...  He continued the same support after we arrived in Nepal too despite being very busy. After landing in Kathmandu we were received by Paban, our trek guide at the airport. Paban was there with us from that time onwards till we completed our Gokyo lakes and Renjo La pass trek and returned back to Kathmandu. Paban did a great job as the trek guide and was very helpful throughout. During the start of the trek we were stuck in Ramechhap for two days as the flights to Lukla got cancelled due to bad weather. Paban managed to get us into a helicopter as an alternate option as we insisted on getting to Lukla quickly. During our unexpected stay at Ramechapp for two nights Paban also ensured that we got the required accommodations. During the trek Paban answered all our questions patiently. He is well aware of all the top mountain peaks and all the terrain details in the Himalayas. He ensured that we had a smooth stay at all the places in the night and regularly monitored our oxygen and pulse levels in the high altitude places. Paban was very friendly and maintained a good professional relationship with all of us during the trek. During the early morning climb to Gokyo Ri, I had some challenges as I was feeling dizzy. Paban took good care of me till I recovered and continued the trek. He even carried my bag till the top after ensuring that I was fit enough to complete the hike to the top. Overall we were all very satisfied and impressed with the service provided by Paban as a guide and definitely would recommend him as a guide for future trekkers. The two porter Sherpas namely Lakman and Chandra were also very nice and I was amazed to see their ability to carry our luggages all through the journey. A big shout of applause to them for their efforts without which we wouldn't have had a great trek experience. Overall we were all very happy with Nepal Hiking Team (NHT);s support and service during the trek. The folks working there are professional and friendly and I definitely recommend NHT as they are definitely one of the best companies for the Nepal treks and we look forward to doing one more Nepal trek with them in the near future.

My husband and I did the EBC trek with Island peak, which is followed with a helicopter ride back to Lukla. Nepal hiking team has been amazing in every aspect from communication prior to the trip to our arrival. Every aspect has exceeded our expectations. We would like to take this chance to especially compliment and express our gratitude to our guide, Netra. On top of his explanation of the trail, he took great care of our well-being. We fell sick on the third day (at Namche Bazaar) and he supported us in every aspect, ensuring we get proper nutrition and hydration to be better. He even carried our day packs just to ensure we could sustain to our next location. As we stayed at sea-level our whole lives, acclimatisation was another challenge. Netra gave us necessary support to ensure all our symptoms (headache) are managed, constantly checking in on us. What touched us the most was when we had to do island peak hike. As a Trekking guide, he could just hand us over to the mountain guide and not follow us to the base camp. Instead, he chose to do so to ensure our well-being, health and everything is well taken care of. Even if that meant that he has to sleep in a smaller tent that is more susceptible to the cold weather and strong winds. Hiking island peak was no easy feat, by then on our 9th day of Trekking, we were extremely exhausted and having to carry heavy mountaineering equipment up was an additional challenge. Netra volunteered to carry our equipment up with us until crampon points (approx 4.5hrs uphill) which he could not progress further with proper equipment. This move was especially touching for us and Netra played an important and impactful role in our successful hike to island peak. On our return back to Kathmandu, the weather was bad at Lukla with most planes grounded. We had to resort to a helicopter ride which had a long queue (2-day backlog of customers). Netra tried all his ways to squeeze us on the helicopter even if it meant sacrificing himself (he had to do 2-day walking/land transfer back to Kathmandu instead). Every little action he did, touch our hearts and to us, Netra is a big brother. He said "I'm not only your guide, I am your friend and guardian." He put us as his priorities and also gave positive encouragement and empowerment whenever I have self-doubts. He said too that we are a family and we will help one another always. Our porter, Dakman, was fantastic too. Knowing we were exhausted/ unwell, he quickly carried our duffel bags to the tea houses, then returned to help with our day bags so that we could sustain too. In every way, we are pleased with Nepal Hiking Team and will choose the company again when we return to Nepal for future hikes. If so, we will definitely choose Netra to be part of our journey again.

What an incredible experience with Nepal Hiking Team! My boyfriend and I just completed the Classic Annapurna Circuit trek and we had an absolutely amazing time. Our group of five were very well taken care of by a team of five: lead guide Bhisma, assistant guide Rajesh and porters Raj, Ellis and Sanjay. While everyone in the team was professional, kind, friendly, always ready to help and always in good spirits, Bhisma in particular stood out and made our trek truly memorable. He was a wealth of knowledge, which he was happy to share. Furthermore, he has an excellent command of the English language, much more so than expected, which made chatting with him easy and enjoyable. Throughout the trek, we could feel his genuine warmth and care for each of us and dedication to ensuring that we had a great time. But beyond being good at his job, he was a pleasure to be around.

The guesthouses we stayed at, for the most part, were better equipped than we expected. We always had en-suite bathrooms, although not always with hot showers or even showers or even sinks. But at least, even on the coldest night at the highest elevation (Thorong Base Camp), we didn’t have to venture outside for a toilet. That was also the only night without any shower, which is to be expected. Otherwise we had access to solar or gas showers at each guesthouse, a very pleasant surprise. The food throughout the trek was also much better than expected - we were happily surprised that we could order a la carte for each meal and it was easy to add on extras to our own bill when desired. We were truly impressed by the fresh fruit plates they prepared for us each evening after dinner. They carried quite a number of watermelons and pomegranates and apples with them from the lowlands and we saw many other trekkers eyeing our fruit plates with envy each night! Tip: bring loose tea/tea bags with you so that you can just order a large thermos of hot water each evening to make your own tea.

The trek was well paced and the guides adapted to our individual needs and speeds. Bhisma was very flexible with adjusting meal and additional excursion timings based on our preferences. We also changed our itinerary a bit during the last few days, based on his suggestions, which made much more sense for us as we weren’t too keen to walk very long stretches on the main road.

Communication and overall organization of our trip has been great. From the first emails with owner Ganga to enquire about the trip to the final drop off at the airport, it’s been a smooth and seamless experience. Overall we feel that it’s been great value for money for the level of service we’ve gotten. We wound up extending this 18 day trip into a 22 day trip by adding two extra nights each in Kathmandu and Pokhara, along with a flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu, all of which he arranged and booked for us. We can tell he’s clearly very busy juggling a lot of different trips going out each day but still takes the time to meet with his clients in person before and after the trip.

We will happily and wholeheartedly recommend Nepal Hiking Team to our friends and colleagues and would definitely return to Nepal to trek with this...

I give them a 100 out of 100, and I plan to use them again when I return to do EBC someday with my family (and would love to have Ram and Pim again). Ganga is a true gentleman and a great trekking organizer. Thanks, NHT, for...

There’s a reason you’ll see nothing but five star reviews for this company, and it’s because they are the BEST company in the world!

I had SO many questions about the trek for weeks before the trip. I emailed Ganga frequently with them. He was so kind, helpful and incredibly responsive. I heard from him almost immediately after I sent my emails, and we are in totally different time zones (very impressive). His answers were thorough and reassuring.

When I first arrived in Kathmandu, our guide, Bhim, was right there to pick me up. He was extremely friendly and explained things well. The company driver (the best driver in crazy Kathmandu) took us to the hotel. The hotel, Apsara Boutique, is located in Thamel, and is quite lovely by the way.

We took the Kathmandu Valley tour - do NOT skip this; it’s amazing - the company’s city tour guide, Kumar, was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a terrific sense of humor. We really enjoyed him, and on the tour, we learned so much about the history, lifestyle, and culture of the people in the area. It was truly fascinating.

When Ganga went over our agenda the morning after our tour, he was honest about the difficulty of getting a flight into Lukla due to monsoon season; however, he already had alternative plans squared away just in case.

Fortunately, on departure day, we flew out on our first attempt. Bhim took care of everything at the airport. The flight had beautiful views and it was quite an experience.

Throughout our trek, Bhim became more than our guide; he became a friend. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy and well and was fun to be around. I always felt like I was in good hands and in good company.

Unfortunately, I developed altitude sickness in Dingboche. We stayed an extra day to see if I improved, but sadly, I did not. Bhim made me feel safe and comforted while I was sick. He even moved to the room right next to mine so I could tap the wall if I needed him in the night.

I did need to take a helicopter out the next day. Ganga arranged and coordinated everything with my travelers insurance to make sure the $3500 bill was covered for me.

When I arrived at the hospital, Ganga was right there waiting. He explained what would happen at the hospital and again took care of communication with my travelers insurance. He stayed with me until I was taken to my room and even carried my bag to my room. I was treated extremely well at the hospital.

When I was released, Ganga met me at the hotel and coordinated my extra stay at Apsara. Ganga is probably the nicest man in the world!

I highly recommend Nepal Trekking Team. They’re affordable and will do everything possible to ensure that you are cared for. Even though I had to be evacuated on day 8, I don’t regret one single second. I’d do it all over in a heartbeat.

Thank you, Ganga and Bhim for being so incredible and offering such amazing service. You really felt like...
