# A Tribute to Binod: Our Esteemed Guide on the Everest Base Camp Trek ## Introduction Embarking on the trek to Everest Base Camp is a dream for many adventurers. This journey is not just a test of physical endurance but also an exploration of breathtaking landscapes, rich cultures, and the indomitable spirit of the Himalayas. Central to this unforgettable experience is the guide who leads us through the rugged terrain, sharing knowledge, wisdom, and a deep respect for the mountains. For our team, that guide was Binod. This tribute aims to encapsulate the essence of his contributions, not only as a guide but as a friend and mentor during our trek. ## A Warm Welcome From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu, Binod’s warm demeanor set the tone for our adventure. He greeted us with a genuine smile that instantly eased any anxiety we felt about the trek ahead. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he took the time to familiarize us with the itinerary, ensuring that each member of the group felt included and informed. Binod’s ability to connect with each trekker on a personal level created a sense of camaraderie that would carry us through even the toughest days on the trail. ## Knowledge and Expertise Binod’s extensive knowledge of the region was evident from the very beginning. He shared fascinating insights into the geography, flora, and fauna of the Himalayas, painting a vivid picture of the landscapes we would encounter. His expertise was not limited to the natural world; he also provided us with a deeper understanding of the Sherpa culture and the history of the Everest region. Each story he told was enriched with passion and authenticity, allowing us to appreciate the cultural significance of the places we visited. ### The Art of Storytelling One of Binod’s remarkable skills was his storytelling ability. As we trekked through the stunning landscapes, he would regale us with tales of previous expeditions, local legends, and personal anecdotes that brought the mountains to life. His narratives were not just entertaining; they were imbued with lessons about perseverance, respect for nature, and the spirit of adventure. These stories transformed our trek into a journey of discovery, making each step more meaningful. ## Safety First Safety is paramount in the high-altitude environment of the Himalayas, and Binod took this responsibility seriously. His thorough understanding of altitude sickness and the signs to watch for was reassuring. He conducted regular check-ins with each member of the group, ensuring we were acclimatizing well and feeling comfortable. Binod’s calm demeanor during challenging moments, such as steep ascents or sudden weather changes, instilled confidence in us. We knew we were in capable hands. ### Navigating Challenges The trek to Everest Base Camp is not without its challenges. There were moments when fatigue set in, and the altitude made the journey more demanding. During these times, Binod’s unwavering support was invaluable. He motivated us to push through our limits, often reminding us of the breathtaking views that awaited us at the next turn. His encouragement was not just verbal; he led by example, tackling the toughest sections of the trail with determination and grace. ## A Friend in the Mountains As the days progressed, Binod became more than just our guide; he became a friend. His approachable nature and sense of humor made the trek enjoyable, even during the most strenuous parts. Whether it was sharing a laugh over a shared meal or engaging in light-hearted banter during breaks, he fostered an environment of friendship among the group. These moments of connection transformed our trek into a shared adventure, creating bonds that would last well beyond our time in the mountains. ### Cultural Exchanges Binod also facilitated interactions with the local Sherpa communities, enriching our experience further. He arranged for us to visit traditional villages, where we were welcomed with open arms. Through Binod, we learned about the customs, traditions, and all the stories in ebc.

I joined a private ACT trekking tour with them, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. As a solo traveler with some hiking experience (but not in high-altitude mountains), I was unsure whether to go with a group or privately. In the end, I chose a private tour so I could enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains — and I’m so glad I did. The main reason I hired a guide and porter was safety, and they truly made me feel safe the whole way. I didn’t even realize when I needed to slow down until my guide reminded me — that probably saved me from exhaustion! I didn’t have to worry about logistics at all; everything was well taken care of. My only job was to relax, walk, and enjoy the incredible views of the Annapurna mountain range — totally worth every penny. What I really appreciated was their communication and care. I mentioned I’d prefer rooms with private toilets if possible, and surprisingly, I got them almost every night — even during the busiest trekking season! I never had to share a room with strangers, which really helped me stay comfortable and focused on the daily hikes. Of course, some experienced trekkers can do this route alone, but as foreigners, we can’t always predict mountain conditions. (We were lucky to cross Thorong La Pass just before the heavy snow!) Having professionals arrange everything safely made the whole journey stress-free and enjoyable. Can’t recommend this Trekking Company enough — they (Basu, Indra, Ishwor) really helped make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience! 🙏

My daughter and a group of her friends from Taiwan wanted to go hiking in Nepal. My friends introduced to her some strongly recommended agents. However, my daughter chose Roving Nepal Trek which is not in the list. I was a little worried. I went to Nepal for a Yoga retreat recently. Have a chance to be with Basu for two days , the boss of Roving Nepal Trek . Out of my expectations,he was so friendly ,sincere , patient and generous. I knew he was tired but he was so calm and make me feel comfortable After the retreat ,my daughter continued her journey with her team to ACT with Basu. 5 stars comment from my daughter and team . I will definitely refer Basu to my friends in Malaysia .

Basu is an amazing guide. Without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had. He has an uncanny knack for knowing exactly what his trekkers need and exactly how they feel. When people in our trek were getting a bit tired, he’d start to slow down without a word being said, like he can read minds. At the same time, if people were feeling fresh, he’d up the pace so we could get to lunch or our final destination earlier for more R&R time.

But the best part about Basu wasn’t his competence or his compassion. It was that he was genuinely one of the most fun people I’ve ever met. No joke, he is absolutely hilarious. His stories were amazing, and his wit was sharp enough to keep up with anyone. He’s the type of guy that is the life of the party and is also the type of guy that anyone would love to have a drink with. If I came back to Nepal and had no urge to hike, I’d give him a ring just to have a drink with. Such a fun guy.

When I heard that he was opening his own company, I was so happy for him. The following year I contact him and his new company Roving Nepal Treks because this time I wanted to do the Annapurna Circuit. He did a fabulous job of laying out the options and making recommendations. Everything was explained thoroughly, and with his usual honesty and good humor. Although he was unavailable to be my guide for this trek, he made sure to provide one of the guides from his company whom he recommended highly.

Dinesh was my guide for the Annapurna Circuit Trek and he did a great job. He always made sure that I was doing alright and went out of his way to make things easier. I never had to worry about anything. He thoroughly explained what we would be doing each day the night before and was ready to answer any questions I had. Never once did I feel like I was being pushed too hard, babied, or forced into doing something I didn't want to do. He let me trek at my own pace and only intervened if absolutely required and no more than was absolutely necessary. This really helped me to enjoy my trek, knowing that all I had to worry about was completing each day's hike.

I know many people say they would use someone or their company again in the future, but I actually did. So when I say I would use Basu or his company again (a third time), rest assured I mean it. You won't regret using this company should you decide to trek in Nepal one day. Can't recommend...
