Stayed at the Himalayan Culture Home (HCH), Namche for 2 days and at their Debouche location for 2 days as well last Sept.||||There were many good lodges to choose from at Namche, we settled for HCH as they covered my lodging needs for both Namche and Debuche. Their Namche location was perfect for us - perched a bit higher and a few blocks away from the center of town. The views in to the valley were great and the owner, Mr. Pasang Sherpa and his parents, were wonderful from the minute we walked in and made our stay a very enjoyable one... Their Debuche location is a stone's throw away from the nunnery.||||We got there at the beginning of the season and had a few minor issues with our shower and room door... every issue that we pointed out was taken care of in minutes. The food was awesome (for us vegetarians) and they provided me with a very good chili sauce (ask for it if you are interested).||||The rooms were clean and they provided us with heated blankets in Debuche (something we looked forward to on our way down). They have an in house laundry facility at Namche that we used as well - our clothes came back nice and clean.||||I am surprised that the lodge does not receive many more reviews - it is certainly worth a visit... we liked the location a lot and ended up staying at their Debuche location on our way back as well.||||A couple of pointers (applies to most locations) - the water in the lodge is heated by solar panels, when it is sunny, you can expect reasonably hot water... when it is not, the water tends to be luke warm. In the early part of the season, expect some minor hiccups as the owners settle down and get the plumbing working... ask for the upper floor in Namche if it is available - the rooms may not have a bath tub there, but the views...
Read moreDon't go there!!||Off all the 15 days trek we were, this was the place with the WORST food!! BY FAR!!||Not only one of us caught quite a sever diarrhea, they don't even know how to prepare quite basic food - the boiled eggs (which weren't close to hard boiled ones) could not be peeled, the boiled potatoes were hardly cooked (and I'm not talking about bringing them to the extent of being real soft, some were simply uneatable), the momos were so spicy that even our porter-guide could not eat them. Well, in addition, some of their so-called cooking was done in the dark. Unbelievable.||As for the room, we paid a full fare for a room with shower and toilets. The shower's handle was broken and almost all the water went out from the broken part and not from the shower's head, so it wasn't that much of delightful shower.||||Looking at the pictures taken 10 years ago, seems the place hasn't been maintained much (if at all)...
Read moreI was able to spend 2 nights at this amazing Tea House. The room was very clean and comfortable. We did not have hot water the first night for a shower but we did the second night. This is dependant on if there is sun or not as the water is heated by solar panels. The dining area was very warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. I had hash brown potatoes cooked with onions and cheese and topped with a fried egg. I also had a large thermos of...
