Staying at this hotel was an absolutely amazing experience for me. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to experience staying at this *capsule hotel in Amsterdam, I will never make a reservation at another hotel in Amsterdam again!
About 2 weeks ago, I [: a Belgian guy in his early twenties] went on a solo-trip to Amsterdam. The plan was to stay in Amsterdam for (only) two nights at a different hotel than the Cabins hotel because I booked it in a hurry and that other hotel was also recommended to me by booking.com as one of the ‘cheaper’ hotels (€200 for two nights) in the city, so I didn’t know about the Cabins hotel at first. After those two nights at the different hotel, I felt like I didn’t really have the full Amsterdam-experience, so I went back on the booking.com app and thankfully, I found this amazing hotel. At the Cabins hotel then I stayed for about 5 more nights! I kept extending my stays everyday because I learned to really love Amsterdam and this hotel! And for each night, I only paid about €30! That’s just amazing (especially for those who don’t have/want to spend that much money, like myself).
*[Capsule hotels were originally invented in Japan as a smart solution for travelers needing affordable, space-efficient lodging: ]‘Cabins Hotel Amsterdam’ brings that concept to life beautifully, offering cozy, private sleeping pods with modern amenities and a relaxed atmosphere — a perfect blend of comfort and clever design.
I really loved the location of this hotel! There are multiple modes of transportation from Amsterdam-noord (,where the Cabins hotel is situated, ) to Amsterdam-centraal. I really enjoyed hopping onto the ferry/boat [the maximum waiting time for a ferry is 10-15 minutes, but I only personally only had to wait once, out of the +25 times I used the boat] to get across the river in +/-10minutes. It’s a very quick and calming experience! + It’s also completely free and it goes 24/7!
The capsules/cabins were well designed and definitely big enough for anyone. Loved the modern bathrooms with more than enough spacious private showers, toilets and sink-areas to (f.e.:) do your skin care routine, do your makeup if you want to, … Everything was very clean and comfortable. All staff members were hard workers, they were super friendly, very chill to chat with, and also super helpful!
It hasn’t even been a month and I’m already planning on going back in a week or so!...

The bathrooms were nice and there were a lot of stalls for everyone to use.
They gave the customers ear plugs free of charge for their upcoming suffering.
There were a few bigger lockers to store more of your stuff (although not everyone got one) as the ones under your bed are tiny.
The bed areas had enough space for you to lay down comfortably.
Cons
So if you're going to say stuff like pods, capsule hotels have sound isolation. Even though this was called cabin hotel, on the app and key page it sayd pod when it came to your bed which applied that it would be quiet and soundproof. This was not the case. It was super loud and I barely slept each night.
The location is so far from the center that it was a pain going there and getting back, I even missed the last ferry one night and that was really annoying as I had to walk from island to island very late and alone.
One staff member, a guy with glasses was super helpful and nice! If all staff members were like him (he was amazing really, super fun, made jokes etc.), I would have no problem with the workers but that was not the case. The shorter girl with dark long hair who greeted me was lowkey rude and didn't tell us about the bigger lockers, she also rolled her eyes at me asking for earplugs when that is complementary. Later on I had seen an african employee dismiss a customer who was complaining about the smell of weed and the hotel being stuffy. There were a lot of beds and even if people smoked outside, the smell would linger which is of course not on the visitors but the design of the hotel. I felt bad for the customer, he ended up pleading by the end, explaining in detail but the employee didn't help.
Last time I stayed at Xplore Hotel and that was a super good location with less beds in the room for basically the same price. I changed to this in hopes of more quiet nights but that proved to be a bad idea. I did like the morning walk to the ferry by the canal the first time around but that...
