This hotel is an ABSOLUTE DISASTER. We booked a triple room with 2 queen-sized beds and 1 double bed through a travel agent for a one-night stay, and it turned into a complete nightmare. The moment we walked into the lobby and tried to check in, we were given a DOUBLE ROOM with only TWO DOUBLE BEDS.
I don’t even know how to describe this situation. The staff were EXTREMELY RUDE and completely dismissed my concerns about the lack of space. She literally said, "Well, this is what we have, so take it." How’s that for CUSTOMER SERVICE? ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS!
We went to check the room to see if it might work, but it was FAR from fine. The two beds were so tiny that only one person could sleep in each, and yet the hotel had the audacity to say it was fit for TWO! I SPECIFICALLY booked a TRIPLE ROOM! When I went back to argue with the staff, they just DROPPED my concern and said they couldn’t do anything because they were “FULLY BOOKED.”
After more yelling and digging, I found out that the hotel had SCAMMED my travel agency into believing that two DOUBLE beds were enough for THREE people. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL! If you can’t provide the service, THEN DON’T ADVERTISE IT!
After STILL dealing with this issue for over 25 minutes on the phone, I requested to speak to the manager. He was apologetic and offered us a 50% discount for a second room—if we paid for it. So, with no choice, we paid an extra 108 NZD for another room.
You might think that after 90 minutes of annoyance, I would finally have a decent night’s stay. But NO, the problems don’t stop. When I tried using the shower, the shower head kept swivelling around and wouldn’t stay in place. The remote control for the A/C didn’t work, and for some bizarre reason, the cleaners had set the temperature to 18°C, so we were FREEZING. And the “Amazing Echo” on the bedside table? Also NOT WORKING. I don’t think Sudima EVER checks their appliances and facilities. So don’t be surprised if something is BROKEN in your room.
This is an OFFICIAL WARNING to you, travellers: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES consider Sudima Christchurch Airport as your accommodation. There will be problems they CAN’T FIX. There are FAR better hotels around Christchurch Airport, like the Hilton. DO NOT STAY WITH SUDIMA! YOU...
Read moreI stayed here for about week until my flight was scheduled for departure. I can’t say nothing but amazing things about Sudima Hotel and their outstanding staff. Including the bar staff, they are awesome. From the first day I checked in, I was greeted with friendly staff who more than willing to take care of me and get me situated. I ran into an issue where the guests next door were making too much noise and I requested for another room bc I was not able to relax and sleep. They were very accommodating and helped me get situated with a new room with no issues. I was helped by Mani the dude with the nice hair and Peter. Shout out to my guys Peter and Mani, they were awesome and really nice and professional. Please promote these guys and keep them around and give them a raise. They do an outstanding job and take pride in their job. Thank you to staff and everyone at Sudima.
Update 03FEB24
Stayed here a second time. I checked into my room very late without any issues. Reservation was made and room was booked with ease. Due to my long exhausting flight and checking in around 0200 AM, No restaurants were available nearby except McDonald’s that is 24/7. We Took an Uber to order, and their system was down temporarily for 25. Minutes to an hour. Frustrated, the staff at sudima did everything they could to help us find food in the area. No luck, Mani personally drove us to the McDonalds to get us food. When I say that Sudimas staff go above and beyond, their staff go above and will do anything to help accommodate your stay at Sudima. Thank you again to Mani and the amazing staff. You made my staff at sudima and Christchurch just more enjoyable than the last. You all are amazing and can’t praise you enough for the hospitality. Also, if you don’t have time to get out and get food, order room service and try their 48 hour bbq brisket burger. It’s is 10/10 and...
Read moreToday, we have a reservation in this hotel. Me and my kids were trying to check in at 4 pm. A kind Phillipines reservation lady served me and I said to her, I want to check on reservation under my husband's name and I want to upgrade the room to family room. The reservation manager cames and took over reservation without anyone ask him to, without a smile. He said they don't have bigger room for us so I ask can I pay for extra bed. He took my payment $85 from my card. After he finished with the reservation, he suddenly ask me, where is my husband? I said from beginning he will check in on the middle of the night because he is still on the flight. He is so rude said to me, you can't check in to the room without my husband. But he took my money for the extra bed already. So I complained why you took the money then? If I can't check in? Instead of apologize, he is very rude to me. I said to him I have did the same way few years ago and they let me in. I paid anyway for the upgrade/extra bed. He insisted being so rude. I asked him to return my money back and he finally did. He didn't think I have 2 kids waiting and not trying to help or not trying to be nice at all. Of course I was angry too at that time facing the most horrible experience on reservation. I've been traveling to many countries and I have never experienced the worst customer service ever, more horrible because he is the duty manager too. I will never come back to this hotel anymore. I went to Commodore Hotel Christchurch and got the most pleasant experience. I've told them about my experience too and the reservation said, that manager should check my situation first before taking the payment and he shouldn't be so rude like that towards a customer. I've been in NZ for 7 years and other people are very kind. What a horrible experience and I hope no one ever have the experience like...
