Staff are nice and friendly and offered to help with anything. They were very busy and seem under staffed. My first impression when I arrived was worrying with the strange people hanging around in the front car park area near reception. I knew something was off when I arrived and worried my car wouldn’t be safe. I later found out I had booked a hotel that accommodated people seeking emergency housing and the gaming lounge/gambling room had some dodgy looking people hanging around throughout the day and night and I did not feel safe. The unlimited free wifi is good but also attracts dodgy people that also sit in their cars and take up space in the car park so it’s hard to get a park sometimes. Pictures online looked great but it wasn’t what I got. Unfortunately the cleanliness was really poor. The extractor fan and heat light in the bathroom didn’t work so the build up of condensation and mould was very bad, including the windowsill and on the curtains had lots of mould. Shower had a lot of mould in corners and all throughout the grout of tiles and the water wasn’t draining in the shower and seemed to fill up more than it was draining. Windows were dirty, skirting boards had lots of dust and the fridge was dirty. Whoever painted the walls did a rushed job and painted everything, looks very unfinished. Paint drips on everything, toilet, towel rail, stainless trim in bathroom. No sign of a bluetooth clock radio, safe, hairdryer, iron or ironing board. No cushions or an extra blanket as shown in the pictures. Cracked tiles in the bathroom need fixing. Huge gap under the door so all you can hear is people coming and going throughout the night. Heat pump smells like it was burning and I was unable to use it. I did not try the food, pool or spa or anything else because I didn’t feel comfortable to look around. Families live there and I continuously heard kids jumping around till late. If you’re expecting quality, this is not the place. I don’t recommend this...
Read moreMy Partner and myself booked a room with Mt Richmond hotel for a few nights as a holiday for my partners birthday. We flew all the way up from Christchurch and we were super excited for our holiday. When we first got to the room we noticed an odd smell but thought it may have been the cleaning products. As it was nearly night we kept smelling this awful smell and started to look to see where it was coming from, we then noticed dried up vomit on the walls and above the door. Disgusted, we phoned down to reception where a lady came up and had a look, she attempted to clean it but failed, resulting in us having to try and sleep in a room that stunk!! The next day we complained and they informed us we would have to be out of the room for them to clean it. Which interrupted our plans but what could we do. Once we checked out, we asked to speak to the manager in regards to the first night and they informed us she would be in contact on the Monday. I phoned up 7 times within a 2 week period and got the same response everytime ‘ the manager will call you when she is free’ and still not go communication from her. 2 weeks later we finally got in contact and she said I had to email her.... in the end all they could offer was a dinner voucher for a hotel in a city I don’t live in not visit frequently! Highly disappointed in there service and felt like my money would of been better off elsewhere. Do...
Read moreStayed there for one night with my family. Check in was good. Room was good apart from a noisy air con even when it was off.
The reason this stay was just okay is that there was a function on the premises from check in time to about midnight. To be fair they emailed me a couple of days prior to warn me this was the case and that they will monitor the noise and that it would be finished by 11PM (It actually went past midnight and was quite loud.) But what they failed to warn us about was that the pool was not open for guests as it was being used for this function. We only found out when we went to go to the pool with our children and found the function was in full swing at the pool. I went to the reception to confirm this.
So we had three upset children who were really looking forward to a swim after a long hot day. They should of told us about the pool closure in that email. I booked this hotel specifically because it had a pool and to not be able to use it was very dissapointing. In the end we looked on google and there was an aquatic centre 4 minutes away by car with free entry which was awesome. They could suggest this in their warning emails in future. So what could of been an awesome stay was marred...
