I want to preface this review by saying that perhaps we had the one room in the place that wasn't updated but overall I could not really relax while staying here. We do not have expensive tastes or need 5 stars to be satisfied, just basic facilities and cleanliness. The main reason we were disatisfied with Gibson Court was because the place was so shabby that it did not feel clean. ||||The room we had was pretty big. There was a living area and kitchen and then separate bedroom which led to a private outdoor area with the mineral pool. The bathroom, toilet and shower were separate again.||||When we arrived, we found a dirty towel on the floor of the bathroom. My husband mentioned this to the staff person on duty as we went out for dinner and he obviously didn't understand because he told us he would have housekeeping look in to it - meaning tomorrow. When we returned that evening my husband had to get his help with the pool (more on that later) and while he was in our room, I reminded him and asked if he could removed the towel. He still looked at me like I was an idiot but finally took the towel as he left.||||The reason we needed help with the pool was because when we tried to fill it, the pressure from the tap was a drible. We didn't expect that this would be very strong but it wasn't enough to fill the pool without leaving it running from 12 hours. This was explained as being due to the rooms next to us using their pools and they were all running off the same system. We were unable to use it that night because the neighbours were running theirs and then tried the second night - same problem. We finally got it filled enough to soak our feet up to our ankles before giving up entirely.||||Additionally the wooden slats in the outdoor entertaining area and around the pool were rotting away in one corner and did not feel safe to stand on.||||The shower only had a shower curtain which did very little to keep the water from going everywhere.||||The heating was a oil wall heater and small electric heater that only did a little.||||They did have laundry facilities and the tour that picked us up did have this hotel on it's list of hotels but overall we were left feeling frustrated and thinking we should have...
Read moreArrived and the motellier was filing our mineral tub!! Reasonably clean and tidy, comfy beds and spotless shower curtain. Yes it's retro, but is still fun and comfortable! Would absolutely stay again. Only thing was the back light by the tub seemed to be on all night- might be worth a looksie! On that note, curtains were fabulous! Woke up at 7:30am and thought it was still night time 😂 also hot water in kitchen and Bathroom wasn't really hot- had to keep moving shower mixer in evening to keep it warm and had to wash dishes with hot water in the morning from jug. Would absolutely stay again and would...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night over the Easter school holidays (family of five). Rotorua was very busy but they had vacancy.||The staff were friendly but very casual, reception area was dark, dated and smelt smokey. I was already dreading seeing the room.||Room was dark, musty and very dated and unloved although on the plus side was clean. The ‘private spa pool’ was the size of a small paddling pool and took 45mins to fill up...but once it was full was pleasant to soak in.||The property has so much potential but seems so unloved and was very expensive for what it was. Would not go back or...
