Shadehouse Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

The food was good but the whole experience was ruined by poor customer service by 2 of the Cafe staff. At approx 1.30pm I ordered the food and sat down at a outside table. Asked if there was any water and was told it was inside. Went to the dispenser but it was empty. When I pointed this out ,the same member of staff abruptly told me the dispenser was being filled! I asked her if she would let me know when the water was filled and she rolled her eyes and said yes grudgingly.Then while I was eating my food another one of the staff came over to my table and removed some of the table decoration. I asked if they were closing soon, and he said they would be closing shortly and he smartly asked me why do you want to know!!!. I was about to question the staff why they were in such a hurry to close when the sign said open 7 days until 4pm, but my partner told me to leave it so I decided to write this review instead. One star simply for the way we were spoken to. My partner and I are regular customers, but today we're were left feeling very embarrassed by a staff member, quite loudly stating we can't have our dog in the Cafe. We have always taken our dog here, staff have even commented on how cute she is, and gave her pats, yet today she was, in our opinion, tackless and a disgrace to the business. You don't speak to customers in that manner, and when I tried to explain that maybe she should inform other staff, that dogs are not allowed in the Cafe, she tried to argue and didn't want to know.Far from quality customer service. By all means, if we had known, we would never taken our dog in, yet other dog owners do the same. Not sure if we would return due to this...

Absolutely love how they have menu’s printed out - allowed us to take a seat and have a proper look at the menu. Staff members who served us done an amazing job. My group ordered the beef & bacon burger with the side of fries, Eggs Benedict with bacon & the pancakes - food was well presented and full of flavour and was very filling. For drinks we ordered- 1x cappuccino with chocolate powder, 1x milkshake & ice chocolate with ice cream and cream. Not a single complaint from my table.
