During our trip to New Plymouth, we finally visited this restaurant after hearing so much about it. To my knowledge, they don’t have a branch in Auckland at the time was writkng this review, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Starting with the food, it was honestly just average. We ordered a variety of dishes, but none of them stood out. The flavors were mediocre and didn’t leave a lasting impression, which was disappointing, especially given the hype surrounding the place. For the price, I expected more in terms of taste and quality, and I don’t think it justified the cost.
On a positive note, the staff members were polite and welcoming, which is always appreciated. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and well-designed, making it a nice place to dine in. One interesting feature was the use of a robot for food service. However, it felt a bit redundant since the wait staff always escorted the robot to the tables, defeating its purpose. I’ve seen a similar robot used more efficiently at a burger place in Hamilton SkyCity, where it operates independently.
Overall, while the atmosphere and service were good, the food didn’t live up to expectations. As someone who loves exploring good food, I wouldn’t recommend this place for a memorable dining experience. Maybe I’ll give it another chance at a different branch someday, but...
Read morei was a little surprise that we got into the restaurant so easy on new years day. When we arrived I could see why. There were two groups dining at the time, and this was at 7pm which is the prime time I would think. My husband and I had the pork roast. The meat was dry and tasted like cardboard. One of the plates had so little on it it was hard to find. the veges were definitely not roasted. they were not cooked and they were dry and bland. there was only about a Tsp of gravy on each plate. the crackling was the size of a 50cent piece. we also had the pumpkin soup - well this was not soup, it was mush of pumpkin. taste was nice but you don't expect to have to eat soup. my son had the seafood chowder - that was nice. he also had the potato wedges - they looked like they had been cooked in the microwave. they were definitely not deep fried. they were dry and stodgy. the nachos - the mince was very very dry. just browned in a dry pan I would think. Overall our experience at the this restaurant was very very BAD BAD BAD. We will definitely not go back again and will definitely not be recommending it to any of...
Read moreStopped in for dinner with my husband and children. The staff and service were great. The robot waiter was a novelty but seemed to have no use as the staff followed it around anyway. The food was average for the price. The options for kids are all deep fried garbage - Chronic disease waiting to happen. I'm always disappointed that restaurants never have real whole foods as options for children, it's criminal. Our mains were okay, the lamb was cooked well but I felt like alot of it was overly processed and not fresh.
When we went to pay, our bill was $212 for 2 adults and 2 children - This included $28 TAX that was EXTRA on top of our bill ... what's the extra tax for? Our mains were $38 each and at that price you would assume tax would be included - Especially because the quality didn't justify the cost at all!!
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to friends or family and I certainly won't be going back there to eat.
There are so many other restaurants in New Plymouth with exceptionally higher quality meals for...
