Blue Marlin Apartments — Hotel in North Island

Average stay. Bed was okay. Really good air con! Microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge in room. Some toiletries are provided such a shampoo, conditioner and handwash. There is no shower gel, only a soap. A shower gel would be better. Hair dryer provided. The shower was actually really good! The sink was so small it was difficult to do anything. No full length mirror anywhere. Parking available on site. Unfortunately the room wasn’t up to our cleaning standard and there was hair in the teas and on surfaces as well as on the pillows. This is something that needs more attention. I’d also emailed to ask if we could check in a bit later and the response came through the day after we had arrived which was strange. When we arrived we didn’t realise there were two sites. One is a few houses down the road. No one was at reception and it was a bit of a back and forth to get sorted but we called the number and it was all sorted very quickly. The lady is very nice who runs it. Provided us with beach towels too upon request. Herbal tea would be a nice addition to the room as well as some small milk cartons. Gourmet hot chocolate is provided. We had budget room 6 and you could hear the people upstairs walking around so it was quite noisy. The mirror isn’t above the sink so you can’t have a shave or straighten hair. I had to use the camera on my phone to straighten my hair. Checkout was easy, you just put the key in the box. Great location. Right on the beachfront, although our room was round the back but this didn’t matter at all! Lovely location. Overall, a pleasant enough stay and with some additional touches I think this place could be a lot better. Probably wouldn’t...

Too start with we were told it was $230 a night when we got there we were told they had made a mistake and that it was $300.. We queried the price and she just said just pay here we were tired it was late so we didn't argue we thought we'd give them benefit of the doubt. Walking into the room you walk right into the tiny bathroom which you could screen off with a shower curtain.. No milk offered or left in room..... Only 4 sugar satchels for drinks and there were 2 of us and the coffee was gross and cheap not what a$300 a night room should provide. Then a knock on the door this morning at about 10.10am from we presume was the owner no introduction or name just a snappy comment about her cleaners been there soon..l apologised and said sorry we were just loading up to go.. She just turned and walked away... Poor service...

Recently, my wife and I stayed two nights at Blue Marlin Apartments. These apartments are just across the street from Buffalo Beach and just a few minutes’ walk to the harbor, eateries, and shopping. We stayed in a studio apartment, which was nice, clean, and had a little TV area. The apartment also has free on-site parking in front of the apartment building. During your stay, if you go to Hot Water Beach, be sure to borrow one of the shovels Blue Marlin Apartments has available for its guests – it’ll come in handy when digging your “hot tub” on the beach! ||My wife and I are particular about our accommodations when we travel, but we have nothing negative to say about Blue Marlin Apartments. Our stay was enjoyable, and we highly recommend this accommodation to anyone...
