2 days, $300+ per day, over priced for a drab, poorly finished unit with mis-matched furniture. No sea views or sunlight. ||||Sadly the building is tired and dated, lacking any style or finesse to the interior or exterior. [Poor] Renovations of our room had been undertaken some time recently however it's been undertaken cheaply with no attention to detail (the painting was so bad it looked like a child had done it, there were carpet "tiles" on the floor!), a home handyman when even a little pride could would have achieved a better result. ||||On night 1 we had an ant invasion in the kitchen, the sistema container with powered coffee in it was just one hard lump of instant coffee, there was SB adhesive stuck on the kitchen bench where it had been glued together, the TV didn't work, the microwave was kept level with a coaster! Again for "boutique accommodation" this was certainly below average.||||For the price, it was super disappointing to see things like "Palmolive Pump Soap" dispensers in the bathroom, there were no toiletries provided (except small cakes of bar soap found in 1970 motels), there wasn't any dish washing liquid provided for the kitchenette, the pull-out sofa was not comfortable.||||This was all we could find as a two bedroom (one bedroom + pull-out sofa) at very short notice for a business trip. I am surprised by the other reviews as, for the price, the Stanford Plaza in Auckland offers more for less! I have stayed in camping ground cabins better appointed, with nicer decor and better value than this "boutique accommodation" ||||Will not...
Read moreMy wife and I are on a 2 week make it up as you go roadtrip. We booking.comed available places then did drive bys like the 50+ year old gangsters we arent, but a great way to compare places from the outside, we settled on Nana Glads because of our perception of price for location. And what a great choice for us !!!. The room does everything we want, very clean, tidy, 2 beers in the fridge, 2 better than hotel milk bottles, tea and coffee selection, a stocked utilities kitchen pantry, access to a commercial BBQ, firm bed, airconditioning (farenheight reading which I cant even spell so had no idea what the temp was bit it worked a treat !!!), a great location, so great we drove to the laundromat and when my wife forgot the powder, we walked back to get it !!!!. Bars and restaurants in abundance half a beer a way (my measuring stick) but absolutely times infinity plus one, the heart of this place is the view. That damn unforgettable, memory inducing view. Christy, the onsite staff is as much as you need, a bubbly, happy girl. And Roly who was prompt and responsive. This is Kauri Cliffs for commoners. O for awesome team Nana Glads. Kia haerere haurora, travel well....
Read moreBooked a room for my brother for 3 nights Through Booking .com and paid in full. All no problem. The booking was for my brother and wife and there 9 month year old grandson. I rang a couple of days before there arrival just to confirm, we were staying next door at another Motel for 12 days. I was very rudely told no they can't stay here we don't let kids stay here. and that your booking is not my problem go to who you made the booking with to try and get a refund. no where did it mention no kid policy and we took note while we were staying next door that there were children and babies staying there . More the fact is the way this horrible man spoke to me. It was the only place in Whitianga with vacancy's over Christmas too which tells you a lot how bad they are . In the end with help from other Motels found 4 night available just around the corner who had just had a cancelation. We say in Whitianga 2 or 3 times a year and can assure you I would never stay at Nana Glads after that experience and after watching this horrible person from next door. I highly recommend The Anchorage and Motel...
