I stayed in a private room with own toilet and shower for 3 nights in total. Am not sure if they only have one private room with toilet because I was assigned in the same room during my 2 separate bookings. It’s not a problem. I was just wondering 😅
The room rate is not cheap for me staying solo but I was looking for convenience and comfort that’s why I booked it. It’s just right for 2 pax sharing the cost. 😁
My only not so satisfied comment is on the broken/old electric water kettle that I was afraid to use as well as the complimentary powdered coffee/creamer in the containers. i was not sure they’re new and I had my own drinks so I didn’t bother to use them.
Thankful for the first receptionist who assisted me because she allowed me to check-in earlier than 2pm. I intentionally left some snacks during my first checkout.
I returned after a day and claimed my washed clothes. I almost lost 1 heattech leggings because it was left in their dirty clothes basket. Good thing i listed my items for laundry and even took a video. Sad that it wasn’t washed because I need to reuse that one especially in the cold weather in Queenstown.
I didn’t get to see the shared rooms and toilets, lounges, kitchen etc.
Overall, I had a great stay considering it was my first time in Queenstown and New Zealand. Queenstown Adventure Q2 Hostel has been my 2nd home there during my 6days stay. I will choose to book there again when I return. Queenstown center is small and everything is walking distance but AQZH’s location is very convenient with no uphill roads and close...
Read moreThere is not enough space on this post to explain how incredibly good this hostel is, but here it goes.
AQ2 is by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at. I have traveled the breadth of New Zealand and everywhere I stayed previous to AQ2 I found some things lacking. At some you wish for faster and free Wifi, at some you wish for warm and well stocked showers, at others you wish for a social kitchen and lounge. AQ2 has all this and more.
It is like if Steve Jobs were to rise from the dead, Forsake technology, and devote all his creative and productive energies towards building the best hostel humanly possible. Details you would not have thought of, they have thought of, like having several cupboards and a pouch alongside every bed for holding your belongings, such as a portable battery that’s charging using the per-bed outlet (which exists for every bed).
The staff and live-in guests are also fire. They are kind and helpful, as well as full of energy to get you excited about exploring Queenstown. I hope you are lucky enough to talk to Liz who clued me in on day 1 how great this hostel would be.
To end, if you are a traveler considering a degree in hospitality, tourism, or any more of these Dark Arts, look no further. Save yourself the great cost and 4 years of hospitality college by staying or working at AQ2 for an extended period of time, I truly cannot imagine a better...
Read moreWe had booked the hostel because of its positive reviews only to be utterly disappointed. We stayed in the private room which was facing the street. It was terribly noisy all night and we could not sleep a single minute. The ventilation in the bathroom was loud and running all night, we heard all the people coming and going in the hallway until the early morning, as well as drunk people outside yelling. To top it off, the bar next to the hostel played loud music until 4 AM and you could feel and hear it in the bedroom. We complained to the reception and the manager about our bad night but their response was that since it’s a hostel we should be expecting this type of noise, not willing to refund us anything. We couldn’t handle staying our second night there and had to find something else, thus double paying for the night. We are extremely disappointed and sad by this type of carelessness towards guests and cannot recommend this...
