There was a tall, thin young man, apparently he is a supervisor (yesterday they refused to give us his name), this is the second time this same young man has treated us in a very rude and arrogant manner. -First time: For Christmas I made a reservation for my hotel team that works as a manager. We reserved two tables outside well in advance (with a very nice girl and she wrote it down in the reservation notebook) The day of the event I approached him and told him that we had a reservation, he replied nobody said anything to me and I told him the girl wrote it down in the black notebook that is there, he made a noise with his mouth and looked at us with an aggressive face, when we got to the table he moved the paper and put us at another table (the one he wanted and pushed one of the guys to get out of his way) My boss was very upset and I asked him not to say anything so as not to generate a worse atmosphere than there already was, we ate quickly and went to another place. Second time: Yesterday I went with a friend (it’s been almost a month and we thought, well maybe the guy just had a bad day) and we decided to go again, we sat at a dirty table in the corner quietly waiting for our food, which we had been told would take 45 minutes, we decided to wait while we had a drink, while we waited we were having a good time with the live music, 10 minutes after we made the purchase this same guy shows up with two plates and from another table he yells something, there was live music (we didn’t hear what he said) a few minutes later he came back with the plates, took our number and started yelling at us asking why we didn’t answer him when he asked who the plates belonged to, he yelled at us and kept yelling while he cleared the table. We felt very humiliated. It was not our intention to ignore him when he shouted asking who the dishes were from, there was live music, he was far away from us, we had our number on the table and only 10 minutes had passed and the waiting time was 45. I am not one of those people who complain, I work in hospitality. But I honestly feel that this time I cannot let his...
Read moreOur Kiwi roadtrip brought us to Queenstown, the adventure capital of the South Island, making it the most popular tourist place in NZ & possibly the most expensive! What a pleasure it was to come across 1876! Recommended by a friend, it's a classic old building, formerly the Court House, including the old holding cell which is now a store, & the Judges bench which hides some fridges! It is roomy & open inside with interesting decor, Kiwi ferns hanging from the roof for example. Staff are super friendly & very efficient. There is a large outside terrace at the front which has gas heaters (necessary this time of year), great for people watching as it faces onto the street. They even have live music every night which kicks off early on the terrace. But the big winner here is the beer. Amazing value for a busy tourist town like Queenstown. Just $11for a pint Macs Apparition Hazy IPA is a great deal. It brought us back 2 nights running & clearly many others too. It seems to be a bar for everybody with the clientele being a mix of backpackers, skiers, tourists, & local working folk young & old. It's really something when you find a place this cool & such good value in a tourist city like Queenstown. ...
Read moreWent there with the missus to get a drink before going out to dinner. Ordered a couple of drinks and they asked for I.D. Not a problem, me and the missus pulled out our Australian Licences. The server looked at them blankly then ran off with them to show another staff memeber. She then came back and told us that they do not accept Australian licences and only accepts passports. She also told us that it would be the same all over Queenstown. We told her that we have used our licences around queenstown and it has been accepted. She told us to bad and basically kicked us out. So, we went next door to the Pig and Whistle to test this "passport theory". The server didnt even ask us for I.D. We also tested this out in several other bars around Queenstown and Australian licences were accepted. Really bad service with non caring staff member that also have attitudes. Will not be going there again for the rest of our...
